My channel's in a grey area - I just post random music (not my own stuff, I like sharing other artists' works, especially if it's obscure and needs more attention), but I sometimes use pictures of anime characters or cute anime girls as a background image because I like that aesthetic. The FTC...
If I were running YT, I'd actually ban the accounts deliberately catering to under-13s. YT is way too dangerous for little kids, and I'm saying this as someone who started browsing YT when I was 11. I saw some weird/freaky shit on there as a kid. XD
This is so poorly worded that I'd be surprised if content creators didn't take YT and the FTC to court over it. Besides, aren't under-13s technically banned from YT anyway? Why is YT catering to them?
I adore that VY2 design! It matches his original boxart really well.
I personally love the concept design of Miku with her hair in a half ponytail wearing a cardigan(?). It's super-cute!
Not a synth user, but I've been quite enjoying the drama surrounding EmVoice in the schadenfreude sense. It's worthy of an article titled 'How NOT To Create and Promote A Vocal Synthesizer'.
I'm always jealous of Hot Topic and the Americans lucky to have a physical store - they do ship internationally, but postage and customs charges for American stuff coming to Britain is obscene, so I never take the risk. I kinda wish Hot Topic would expand a bit more internationally than just...
Follow-on unpopular opinion: I'm disappointed Lucia and Luan never became things, because now the Spanish side of Vocaloid is completely dead. I was super-excited for additional languages in V3, but once the Korean and Spanish sides quickly died off, nothing else came out of language expansion.
I saw the Reddit thread about this as well. I personally think it's Google creating a loophole to shut down accounts that have been demonetised for breaking community standards, because there have been multiple cases where monetised channels have not been dealt with properly if they violate the...
Holy shit, Miku at Primark?! I know they've been stocking Dragon Ball Z/Naruto/My Hero Academia shirts for a while now (which I found odd considering most Brits don't know any anime other than Pokemon), but I didn't know Miku was that well known enough in the UK to warrant being featured in...
I was quite surprised to hear how different Meiko and Kaito sounded in tone in V3. (Of course, the V1 and V3 engines process samples very differently to each other, but it was still a bit odd getting used to producers working with a different toned Meiko and Kaito after listening to V1 for so long).
You're better off forking out for either a Nendoroid (which I think are actually around $50 on average in the US) or a full body figure. Not even Funko Pops (something else I hate aesthetically) are that ugly or expensive.
I thought she wasn't that popular in the Western fandom at least until a bunch of people on here told me she was. Since I mainly follow electronic Vocaloid music and all the Vocaloid YT channels I follow keep dying (I don't have a Niconico account), I'm always out of loop as to which...
I like the art style on the Toonize figures - it reminds me of Powerpuff Girls' art crossed with The Loud House's for some reason. But the OMiku figure is just ugly.
I don't pay much attention to CeVIO VBs (even though I should), so I'm just gonna say ONE since I have a bunch of ONE songs on my YT non-Vocaloid synth playlist.
Seconding the YY PV - I don't usually get glued to PVs anymore, but YY's "vertical smartphone camera" style always draws me in whenever I come back to just listen to the song. I've seen a couple of other Vocaloid videos do the same style, but none of them were as creative as YY.
I agree with liking Miku Solid and Dark, though Original will always remain the 'default' Miku bank to me because I heard that voice first long before the Appends dropped. Solid has a powerful tone that works well with more aggressive rock, metal and electronic genres, and the strong...
After seeing V5's performance and the fan reaction to it, I feel like Yamaha should have stuck with V4 for longer and tried releasing some updates for it which include V5's features (because some of them were asked for for years before V5 and the fans really like them, but the hardware...
I like Nana English, but I was thinking more of a native English VB rather than a Japanese VB with an additional English bank. Nana English is cute, but can get quite Engrishy unless you tinker with her. (I find Miku V3 English to have the same problem as well, but V4 English was an improvement...
I'm gonna be the one with the unpopular opinion and say a cutesy English female comparable to a Japanese VB like Miku, Nemu or Hime. It's a really obvious niche that hasn't been filled yet (probably because Westerners don't like "cute" vocals the same way the Japanese do.)
I agree with the...
