I like anti-piracy screens, goes to show how some companies actually care if someone actually pirates their games, I really like fanmade ones too, but some that I've seen are just "WE ARE GOING TO KILL YOU" and stuff like that, it gets overused and boring after awhile, especially those "Barney error" videos, so i'm wondering, does anyone have any anti-piracy screen videos that are ACTUALLY good?

I have two that I like the most. One for the indie game "Just Shapes & Beats," where the creator of the game parodies the "you wouldn't download a car" PSA, then gives a wholesome lecture saying to support the games in other ways other than piracy. The other one, not fully sure if it counts as a pirate screen, but some speculate it was meant for that. But for Sonic CD, when you input a code in the sound test, you get the iconic "Fun is Infinite" screen with the creepy Sonics in the background.

The fanmade anti-piracy errors completely overtook legit videos of the same thing at one point, so now I hate them for clogging up YouTube's search results for when I want to find actual examples of anti-piracy. 😅

Anyway, my personal favourite example is Earthbound/MOTHER 2's anti-piracy, because it's exceptionally evil! If an illegitimate cart is detected, the game will boot up as normal, but it'll be locked in what I can only describe as a batshit insane Hard Mode where there's way more enemies wandering around the world than normal (including ones that show up in the wrong areas), sometimes to the point of crashing the game. If you somehow manage to plough through the entire game despite it trying to be so hard it's unplayable, the game will not only crash right before you start the final boss fight, but it will also delete your save data! (This is probably where all the fanmade piracy screens get their ideas from lol.)

I'd like to add Spyro: Year Of The Dragon to the list of anti-piracy measures that make the game batshit hard. If the game detects that you're running an unauthorized copy of the game, it'll go into hard mode. If I recall correctly, you'll lose collectables and money randomly, the fast-travel system would spit you out wherever it wanted, the game randomly crashed, and if you were playing the European version, the game would randomly switch languages. So all in all, NOT a fun time.
