I already know my answer, but I'm wanting to know what your takes are on this question...
I did some light research into both the VOCALOID AI and the SynthV AI engines and reached my own conclusion, but I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks on the subject matter.

We both want to know, please.

Haha, well, objectively no -- you can call her an UTAU or a SynthV voicebank, or just a vocal synth to be general and avoid confusion between the two, but she was never a Vocaloid

There are people who use Vocaloid as an umbrella term for vocal synths, in which case I guess she would be. But I'm not the biggest fan of that tendency, especially in more recent years where there are several major softwares from various companies on the scene and Vocaloid has "fallen off" a bit in terms of quality and popularity (characters like Miku notwithstanding)

You've resurrected the age-old question, oh no.

Is Kasane Teto a Vocaloid? Well, by technicality, no she is not. Kasane Teto does not, as of the date of posting this, have any publicly released voicebank designed for Vocaloid, the software. While there was a Vocaloid2 version in production at one point, no official voicebank has been released. By that logic, Kasane Teto is not a Vocaloid.

However, over the years, Vocaloid (the name) has become synonymous for any vocal synthesis program. So if we take that version of the term Vocaloid, then yes, Kasane Teto is a Vocaloid. She has voicebanks for two, technically three vocal synthesis softwares (UTAU, Synthesizer V, and Voicepeak). And if we're being even more specific and defining Vocaloid as a singing vocal synthesis program that requires a payment to use, then Kasane Teto still is a Vocaloid, due to her Synthesizer V voicebanks.

Personally? Due to her SynthV voicebank's popularity becoming known far and wide across the vocal synth fandom and being one of the biggest entry points for new fans, I would consider her to be a Vocaloid in spirit at least. She's become more popular than some of the Crypton 6 (I personally knew Teto before I even knew Rin and Len), so I think that's a pretty good measure of her influence.

I mean, I call Koharu Rikka a Vocaloid when I talk to my family members about my projects using her, so I guess Teto is a Vocaloid if I'm not being specific about software lol
If you're using it as an umbrella term, of course, if not... Sorry Teto :haku_ibis:

It's easy to call her one, but no.

If in conversations you call her, or any other voicebank a vocaloid, I won't correct you, it's done out of convince. But she objectively clearly isn't: she was never on vocaloid software, so she isn't a vocaloid. Even if she rubs shoulders with them a lot.

In a similar way to how the Habsburg Kingdom was in fact many different titles, but called the 'Habsburg Kingdom' purely for convince in genral conversation.

No, she is not. She's an Utau and Synth V voicebank. As well as on Voicepeak. You could call her an Utauloid, though, I guess.

We do know that apparently, Crypton had tested a private Teto voicebank for the Vocaloid engine in 2017, but that never materialized. But, does it really matter? people tend to lump everything into the umbrella category of Vocaloid even if they aren't because most people don't really care or know most of the other vocal synth engines besides Vocaloid, Snyth V, Utau and maybe CeVio. I'll go with no, though.
