Scientists have apparently taught an algorithm to interpret the brain waves of people's inner speech (that is, the speech that you imagine in your mind while thinking) and reproduce that speech through a vocoder.
Importantly, this process produces spoken output that other people can understand 75% of the time, which is higher than previous similar attempts.
Currently, this only works for the numbers 0-9, but someday it might be a communication aid for people who can't speak.
