Especially helpful for people like me who are into Talkloids, fanfiction, and Vocaloid "lore". Giving a Vocaloid their own backstory could help you with their personality!
keisou's AVANNA's Story:
Avanna was raised in a lone house in a forest south of Dublin by an elf woman and a human man. Her mother named her after her own mother, Éabha (Ava), and her husband's mother Anna, declaring that their combined names meant "gracious breath of life". Her parents agreed to "raise her right", and she grew up to be a polite, kind and intelligent young woman. Her mother taught her to cook, make clothing, play instruments and care for plants; her father taught her "school subjects" such as mathematics, science, world history, and literature, as well as general advice on life. The others that lived in the forest largely loved her for her kindness and her beautiful singing. One day, their house burned down in a fire, and though Avanna and her parents all survived, they had to leave the forest for Dublin to seek a new home. Her father, a born-and-bred Dublin man (who had probably been waiting his whole life for this moment), taught her and her mother the ways of city living, and Avanna managed to grow accustomed to it with her father's help.
Avanna always had a feeling she was different, but she didn't have a clue how until she was singing one day and realized she not only had perfect pitch, but an inhuman vocal range (she also noticed that she struggled some with pronunciation in Irish though she was fluent in the language). Soon, at around eighteen years of age, she received a letter inviting her to London, confirming that she was a Vocaloid, and inviting her to meet her fellow Vocaloids. She put together her new outfit with the help of her mother, taking from her mother's Celtic influence, and was able to meet the other Vocaloids at Zero-G, and eventually those outside the company as well. She joined Zero-G, was given a place to stay, and was all too happy to practice her singing among her new friends, quickly taking on a caring role among the Zero-G "family".
(And yes, I did indeed give her living parents. She still visits them sometimes, I'd imagine. She's just an Independent Adult now I suppose. Her parents could also be deceased but she wouldn't let it make her a bitter woman, as she'd appreciate the memory of their love. As for whether they're biological or adoptive...um, I dunno. I did write about Avanna's birth once but maybe her being adopted would make sense too?)
Meeting Miku:
One day, a young Japanese girl fresh out of English lessons was taken to meet some of the native English-speaking Vocaloids, Avanna being among them. Avanna took an immediate liking to the girl, whose name she soon learned was Hatsune Miku, or Miku Hatsune in Western order. Avanna helped Miku some with her English and answered any questions she had, and soon they became friends. Miku eventually had to go back to Japan, so they went their separate ways, until one day she was called to work for a producer in the US (me lol), and when she got to her new home, Miku was already there.
Friends with Gumi:
Avanna knew Gumi before she knew Miku, as the latter was fluent in English and liked to travel to Western countries. Gumi declares the two "green buddies" and likes to tease her Irish friend, but Gumi is even stronger friends with Miku, whom she's known and befriended pretty much ever since she was signed as a Vocaloid. Gumi is a tech genius and has been known to help Avanna with anything she's struggling with tech-wise.

: I always thought of her a naive, childish, sometimes playfully stubborn girl, who hangs out with Akita Neru and Kasane Teto. I see her as that bc I recently re-listened to ”Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf” after four years and she kinda seems like her. Honestly I see her being quite spoiled by Kaito, whom I will mention later, she always gets into fights with the Kagamines and she’s easily angered.
: I think of them as siblings bc of their last names despite Crypton saying they aren’t confirming that they are siblings nor lovers. They’d be arguing a lot at 6 or 7 am in the morning abt fruit, which is more superior: bananas or oranges? Rin would probably boss Len around but Len finds Rin annoying.
: I see her as sometimes chaotic when drunk, but surprisingly mature when she’s sober, inspo by “On the Rocks” by Oster Project, I see her performing at a Jazz club being a singer while Kaito, again I’ll mention later (actually kinda soon), being a pianist. This is probably a really big hot take but Meiko is a Wine Aunt. I also see her being the child to Sachiko, and Kiyoteru, which I’ll mention later, is her older brother, again I’m just thinking this because the three look similar to each other. Her relationship with her mother is not great and her mother doesn’t approve of her husband, Kaito. (Ya’ll halp I think I’m writing lore

: Really big hot take but Kaito is addicted to ice cream, so he has a mini fridge, y’all may or may not hate me for this but he looks like he could probably be the dad of Miku, and the Kagamine Twins. He would probably be married to Meiko. Besties with Gakupo since high school, knew Kiyoteru in high school too but he didn’t talk to him much at all because he thought Kiyo was a nerd, he was the popular boy in high school. Works at a Jazz club with his wife, Meiko, he plays the piano and sometimes works as a bartender.
: She likes seafood but not into octopus for the sake of Luka Taro, whom she keeps in her room in a little tank. Meiko’s best friend. Also works at Jazz Club as the bartender but when she’s not available Kaito steps in for her. Lil bit of a Yandere (I watched Scissorloid). Maybe an alien, bc of her outfit in Luka Luka night fever. Likes the colors black and white. Is spotted on a black-and-white security camera at 3 AM talking to a girl (or was that a boy…?) who looked similar to a robot.
: Is a crazy scientist bc of the goggles, isn’t interested in Gakupo or anyone to be in a romantic relationship because she’s mostly focused on her work. One of Miku’s rivals. Is friends with Yuzuki Yukari and Akari Mizuna who is also Miku’s rivals. She is more into the future than the past even though Gakupo wants her to be interested in his job as samurai.
: Is a bit of a Yandere for Gumi but hasn’t done actual harm yet because he has a soft heart. He used to want to have a bromance with Kaito but when Kaito got married he was heartbroken and disappointed until he saw Gumi. Has been trying to persuade Gumi into has as a samurai but it never seems to work. Works as a samurai in the military, hasn’t been drafted in years, is friends with YV2 that is a sentient samurai sword but Gakupo promised never to use him so he keeps him in a case, they first met when Gakupo first got his sword.
: Is Kaai Yuki’s teacher, his girlfriend is SF-A2 Miki who’s brother is Utatane Piko. Kaai Yuki is his adopted daughter since her biological parents couldn’t take care of her. Was bullied by Kaito in high school for being a nerd. Get‘s a lot of apples for his birthday from his students since the students didn’t know what he liked. Listens to Lofi and sometimes hip hop. Was in the band Ice Mountain but grew apart from the band after high School. Sachiko’s first child, he is very religious.
: Kiyoteru’s adopted daughter, adopted when she was four, loves Kiyoteru’s cooking, mostly his curry. Is babysat by SF-A2 Miki. She wonders why Miki just sometimes just stands still for no apparent reason. She’s met her uncle, Piko, only once at Christmas.
: Kiyoteru’s girlfriend, suspected alien as well rather suspected as an android. Has laser eye that can shoot blue lasers. Brother is Piko Utatane also suspected android alien. She was once cold, silent and submissive but however after observing Kiyoteru’s humanly behavior, such as crying, her code altered and she became more humane instead of emotionless or cold. Kiyoteru found her one the side of the road.
: Miki’s older brother, also suspected alien but rather suspected as an android, he has the same laser power as Miki. Has seen Yuki only once at Christmas. Is upset that his sister is dating a human, a rather boring one at that. When they so called “crash-landed” he stayed at the abandoned unknown ship, waiting for Miki to comeback to him, and waiting for Miki to be full of regret.
: A sentient fan, she lives in a big mansion in rural area, her owner uses her a lot so she is tired, her younger brother, YV2, was a samurai sword but he was stolen, now she doesn’t know where he is sadly…She’s been missing and longing for her brother ever since. She is a girly girl and is close to a certain sentient cat.
:A sentient samurai sword, he once lived in a Japanese fancy mansion in a rural grassy area of where it was obscure, however someone once stole him one night. He was gifted to Gakupo on his 26th birthday, Gakupo was startled that he could hear his new sword talking to him, they eventually started an argument but however, landed on an agreement, YV2 cannot be used unless case of emergencies, and Gakupo would never betray the sentient sword.
: Owner of YV1 and YV2, mother of Meiko and Kiyoteru. She lives in the rural area in a fancy mansion she owns for being a famous singer. Her mansion is on the top of a hill, next to her was a commoner‘s rusty home she despises. She is elegant and always right as Kiyoteru says. She has a very wise personality and wanted what’s best for her children. She has a Neko cat with the initials of “N.I” which are the same initials as her personal servant. She doesn’t know that her fan, sword and cat are sentient.
: Former sentient Neko cat, she has the power to shape-shift yet she does not know she gets the power from, she could get it from YV1 or that one alien crash site. She was once a normal Neko cat but suddenly she got a surge of power from the ground she was walking on and her body then became more humanoid, making the most a fur on her head become hair, her ears became a lacy black and white headband, and some of her fur smooth without a lot and became skin, she was covered in fabric as well, when Sachiko saw her, she thought she was a new servant so she started working for Sachiko. In her human form, she is a servant, in her Neko cat form she guards the mansion from those filthy, commoner’s dogs.
: Former sentient dogs who are siblings, both of them have the power to shape shift, yet they don’t know how they got this power as well, they were big dogs with DAINA being a coral orange furred dog while DEX’s fur was white as snow, both were normal dogs and their owner was away when the same thing happened to them when power was surging through them from the ground they were walking on, the same thing happened to them Except their dog ears permanently attached to their heads it wasn’t a headband like Nekomura Iroha. They shape shifted back before their owner could see them with a humanoid form. When they are in their human form, they are exploring the forest when they are in their dog form they’re protecting their territory from that selfish, greedy Neko cat from next-door.
: Child of Big AL and Sweet Ann, the youngest one to be precise, his family is full of monsters. Literally. With his two older siblings, who are twins, being vampires and his parents being sewn up experiments, yet he doesn’t know what he is… He also live in a mansion but in the deep dark woods where it’s isolated. He talks to birds to be more specific partridges, he where is the bandage on his right eye because rumor has it, he was born blind or a bird pecked out when he was just a toddler. His bedroom windows have bars on them since he can’t go anywhere outside the mansion or he’ll be hunted down.
: Child of Big AL and Sweet Ann, his twin, Ruby, is the opposite of him and not just because of gender, he is an vampire so he can never go outside, he’s only heard of outside but has not seen it, he has only read books that say what it is like outside. He is very protective over his brother Oliver. He doesn’t trust that one sentient flower nor red pale boy that Oliver’s been talking to.
: Child of Big AL and Sweet Ann, her twin, Yohio, is the opposite of her, she takes risks even it means getting her and her family exposed and hunted down, so she is locked in her room most of her days with her life-sized doll who talks to her, that Ruby no longer wants nor plays with. Doesn’t really care about Oliver. She’s rivals with the sentient flower.
: Former sentient flower, she lures people with her scent and beauty then they have no longer control of their bodies and makes them do whatever she pleases, her newest victim is Oliver. But she realizes…Oliver can’t be controlled for he doesn’t have a mind for he is not human at all, his body was already rotting, she forces Oliver to stay away from her but he doesn’t obey… For he is lonely and lonely forever.
: Former sentient hybrid, he was the hybrid of a red and white bear and rabbit and a mole, when he was about hiding in the woods waiting to catch human prey, for that’s what he could only eat. Humans. Until he stumbled upon Oliver. He manipulated his form to look human, even though it hurt a lot. He somehow became friends with Oliver despite the looks from Yohio.
: Lab experiments gone wild, they were stronger than their creator needed them to be, they never had real names so they called themselves, AL and Ann because that’s what their creator and his wife were named. They were madly in love. Eventually they had children, named Ruby and Yohioloid, three years later they had Oliver.
: Former sentient doll, she was once a small doll that Ruby one of Big AL and Sweet Ann’s children used to play with, with Ruby’s vampiric abilities, she turned into a life-size doll, as Ruby got older she stopped playing with her and eventually forced her in the closet to rot but since she was porcelain, she remained still all those years and she occasionally talk to Ruby from inside the closet, but still, she knew that Ruby would never listen.
