Suggestion General Music Theory Tutorial Category?

Our Resources section has categories for different vocal synth technologies, plus Miku Miku Dance. I'd like to add a resource at some point for learning general music theory. Would it be possible to add something like a general Music or Music Theory category?

Sorry for the late response! "General Music" and the subcategory "Music Theory" have been added to the Resource categories!
Let us know if you have any further suggestions :kaito_move:

Nice, thank you! I'll have a look at putting together some music theory resources, then!

Hm, I do have another suggestion, but it might be kind of big/a more organization-philosophy thing. Just something to think about. I think we have a number of great threads here that are a little scattered around that might work well being moved into the Resources area. For example:

All these threads are in appropriate places according to their content. But they also all follow a format of the first post being a collection of really useful info/links, with the rest of the thread being reserved for dialogue.

I can see both sides of having these threads be resources/not, mainly since they have some dialogue and that dialogue is important. But the initial post is where I think a lot of the threads' value lies, and with them being scattered around a bit now, they're somewhat hard to find unless you know they're there already. If we were to move them into the Resources area, they would become part of a single good place for people to go to learn about many of the major aspects of music production with vocal synths.

Regarding the dialogue, I could imagine either moving that to each Resource's comments area, or keeping the existing threads where they are but moving the initial post content into a new Resource thread. Most of the discussion probably doesn't relate to the OP anyway (That seemed to be the case from the time I spent in the Piapro Studio thread or the Studio One thread.), so this might not be as radical a change as it sounds.

Of course, the people who made these/other such threads should have a say in such a reorganization, too--maybe they would have some objection to having their threads moved or split?

Question: it looks like maybe items in the new "General Music" category and/or the "Music Theory" subcategory are private--unless you're logged in, you can't view them. For example, if I'm not logged in, I can view the Basic Vocaloid Software Resource and the Tuning Resources Resource, but the new General Music Theory Resource has its content hidden. I don't think I set anything differently, so I'm not sure why that would be unless the categories themselves are set differently.

I don't have any problem with keeping some of our resources private (sprites, MMD models, stuff like that maybe), but this instance seems more likely just an accidental setting difference.

Edit: Actually, the music theory resource seems to show the beginning part of the post if you're not logged in, but it stops after the spoiler surrounding the introduction (and the text in the spoiler is truncated, too). I'm not sure why--the spoiler contents are just text, and the only special things below that in the body were some links to external websites.

Thank you for pointing this out. Upon looking into, it appears because General Music was a new category, it was appearing private at first as its settings had not been adjusted privately. That should be all fixed now!
We are considering if other resources should be set to private as well or not, however in the mean time, General Music and Music Theory resources should be visible to those logged in and not logged in.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
