Suggestion Looking for Users from Certain Locations

Would be nice if we could use the Search function to look for users from a certain country or even city if they tell their locations. That would also help the VOCALOID companies to determine where it could be beneficial to host events at.
I refrained from a fun location this time because I saw that VNN is partnered with companies like 1st PLACE.

Not all people from a certain location will want to participate in an event, even if they're Vocaloid fans. The VVN community isn't even that big yet so the possible number of participants could be very off. The companies are more likely to estimate it based on the number of sales in different countries.

IF a search feature like this would be implemented, I think it should also be mandatory for all users to set their real location (country). Otherwise the search feature wouldn't be much of a use, as WintermintP said.
Personally I don't mind telling where I'm from, but some users might not want to, and that's totally ok.

Out of all profiles I saw, it's a 50/50 between users who tell their real location and those who don't. I don't want to force anyone to tell their locations, they would just not appear in the search results.
It just would be nice for users from countries where VOCALOID is less known to find mates or if they just prefer to talk in another language that is not English nor covered in the International forums yet.
Yes, this is only a small community but it can still help people to estimate how many fans live in each country. So far, most of the forums are inhabited by Americans, Canadians, Brits and Germans, right?

British* (or Brits*)

Anyway, we're at a Morton's Fork situation where if we force people to give away even the countries what will happen is that most would give away fake locations because they don't want to give away anything, thus giving us little to no real data, and if we don't, then they don't give away their locations and thus, we have little to no real data. Either way the feature will just end up being useless all the same.

I don't think @ZAR-PARTY intended suggesting a search that would force people to include their location. Also, upon making/editing your account, there could be a "Vocaloid companies have access to your location" statement that would both give context as to how your information is being used and incentive to people who want to help out companies in that way.

@VocaMew If we don't enforce some kind of location info there's no data the feature can gather from, so yes, @ZAR-PARTY did intend suggesting a search feature that would have to enforce such a thing in order for it to work at all, and even then people can still lie about their locations so the feature is still not all that useful. It's redundant either way.

They've said in the comments that the plan wouldn't be to force it on anyone. And again, you would have to put both the information and incentive there to let people know if this would be something they would want to do or not and if they would like to help in this way. Ya, people might put in fake locations, but those are the same kind of people who make an account for like a week and then run off somewhere else. The user data that companies would take would have to be from the more committed account, for that reason and the fact that they're probably more likely to buy the product anyways. If enough steps are put into it, solutions fix more than one problem at once.

Hello everyone, we appreciate your feedback and concerns.

Just letting everyone know, that at the moment, we do not have any plans to implement such system. However, we will be sure to keep it in mind. If anything changes, we will make sure to let everyone know.

Thank you.

Don't ever fake my statements! I know my own intentions better than you.

It's just an option. It's the same as the Skype, Facebook & Twitter Identities in each account page. If you don't want it - leave a blanc field.

It was me who said that users should provide their real location in order for the search feature to be truely useful.
Furthermore, I should clarify that even if providing one's location is optional/ free in terms of what they write in the location field, I wasn't against the idea, it's just that the feature wouldn't be that useful in my opinion.

I just wanted to clarify these things to avoid misunderstandings.

This. Also, my point was that even then the feature won't be all that helpful because, let's face it, there won't be enough of us that can provide any useful data for anyone here. Maybe if the number of users doubled, then we can talk about this again.

We understand everyone's concerns, as we have mentioned we do not plan on implementing such system.

I am sure this was simply a miss understanding, please try and keep things respectful towards other users.

then we can talk about this again.
As previously mentioned, if we intend to add this feature in the future we will let everyone know.
