On October 8th, 2026 (Pacific Time), Yamaha announced that they revealed the latest version of VOCALOID called VOCALOID7 and its bundle voicebank will be asa. Not only that, INTERNET Co., Ltd. also announced that they will release VOCALOID7 Voicebank AI Megpoid as well. Both the editor and AI Megpoid V7 will be release on November 11, 2026.

thoughts on this:

• demo sounds in between synth v 1 and 2 in quality
• cool that they are adding vocal modes (finally)
• a lot cheaper than vocaloid 5 and 6
• ui looks kinda awful
• love the new gumi design!

Right I was gonna say, the demo so far sounds a lot more synthV-like and V7 is a LOT cheaper I was suprised, I can't wait to hear what other vbs are upcoming!!

Appears they added little singer portraits on the side like they do in OpenUTAU lol

Vocaloid 6 only released tHREE YEARS AGO

October 13th 2022, so four years. V5 was July 12 2018, which was four years and three months bfore V6.

OpenUTAU you mean, because UTAU doesn't.

also one thing i noticed that can imply a lot, is the "web" tab in the voicebank section, that could imply vocaloid moving to an account based licensing rather than serial based licensing. allowing for easier voicebank updating and install. though it's not guaranteed


at the very least with how similar it is to 6, it's definitely not a brand new software and is heavily based on the source code of vocaloid 6 so porting betterloid to it, shouldn't be that difficult thankfully

Vocaloid engines usually have a new version every 3-4 years so I'm not surprised we're getting V7 now. I'm actually kind of impressed that there is a $70 usd upgrade price from V6 -> V7 until December. I really hope they don't go the SV2/VoiSona route because I do like that Vocaloid was the last synth with the old license system.

All I want is the addition of job plugins. Cmon Yamaha let me use them in a modern editor. It's unfair that if we want to use job plugins, we gotta use V3/4.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they knocked the price down a lot for V7 because asa is the only voicebank thats marked as being included with the editor.

OH MY GOD I PREDICTED THIS YESTERDAY AHAHAHAHAHAHA I WAS RIGHT!

It sounds so good! Gumi sounds like a mix of a SynthV1 and 2 bank in terms of engine quality, so it's definitely improved a lot. And finally, vocal modes for Vocaloid! I... Might buy this one later down the line because it's just SO much cheaper and also Piapro Studio's DAW plugin status annoys me.

Also, FUTURE CRYPTONLOID UPDATES WILL LIKELY BE COMING TO V7 INSTEAD OF V6. KAITO, MEIKO, AND LUKA WITH VOCAL MODES?!?!!? THE WORLD IS NOT READY (and rin and len are there too i guess).

oh I do think this UI is kinda ugly

However, I think I do plan on getting V7!! The upgrade price is only $39 dollars and honestly I am excited to try a new era of Vocaloid since I've still been partying on 4.

it looks like the upgrade price is $39 IF you buy one of the V6 starter pack bundles.. The regular upgrade price for just V7 is $70.

I... Don't doubt it. Miku is so popular that Crypton will want some more of that Miku money, and a new voice bank with previous appends as vocal modes seems likely to me. Hopefully less fuzziness, too.

Deleted my initial reply because upon rereading, I *think* this is what it means:
The limited time price for the upgrade is $39. If you buy a V6 bundle, they will give you a $39 off purchase coupon, meaning you could redeem the V7 upgrade for free.
