I honestly feel the exact same way orz. I think Synth V is great, and the new feature is fantastic! I'm incredibly excited to see how it continues to develop.

But... yeah, everyone got a bit too excited, I think. I think it's wonderful to be excited about this feature and I do agree that it changes the scene going forward for future development, but everyone's so obsessed with the idea of who's "top dog" and saying Yamaha is just sitting around and falling further behind when it's so clear that they literally don't care to begin with. V5's been doing fine despite everyone's doomposting, and it's clear when you look at new producers who are obviously using V5 features - like it or not Vocaloid is still the big name for vocal synths in Japan and it'll likely remain that way for a long time to come.

I just think it's okay to hype something up that you really like without trying to say everything else is dead or ruined. Like man you can keep using other editors too 😭 And I think it's valid to wish/hope that your favorite vocals will come to Synth V too, but most of all I just think it's a bit annoying that people have forgotten how we've come to this point in the first place. Synth V is great, but it literally wouldn't exist without Vocaloid and I really don't get why people are acting like Vocaloid is a blight for ever having been made. It's okay to like multiple things. (sorry for rambling on your status, but this has been bothering me too orz)

No need to apologize! That's how I feel exactly. People LOVE talking about how far Vocaloid has fallen, how V5 is a failure, how Yamaha has abandoned it purely to spite the fans, when all of that is literally just not true. V5 is, if I remember correctly, the most commercially successful version of the editor Yamaha has released, and sees extensive usage both in the fandom and with indie producers, and while they've halted on producing and distributing voicebanks, they're still hard at work on experimental projects that may just see commercial release one day.

I've gone from being a hardcore SynthV stan to keeping my distance from most of that side of the fandom, because I'm just so fucking sick of people insisting this is some kind of battle of Good vs. Evil, the Wretched Yamaha and their Disgusting Vocaloid vs. the Holy, Faultless Dreamtonics and their Wholesome SynthV, when it's just... it's vocalsynthesis. It's two approaches to the same end goal. Two excellent, high-quality products who, while competitors, don’t have to exist or be used and loved in mutual exclusivity.

It's to the point where SynthV news makes me reflexively upset tbh
