I kinda agree when it's a letter, like Kevin that is oficially a "K". Besides that I'm pretty okay since you can redraw them whatever the hell you want XD

For me, the avatar thing is irrelevant but it is undeniably play an important role to many thing(mostly marketing).

Similar story to average person who buy a headphone, if the package look appealing, they probably buy it right away. There are also some manufacturers that give you a plain white box. Because they expect customers to already know what's inside.

At the end of the day. People work with vocalsynths by listen to it, not look at it.

I think with visuals being such a key part of Vocaloid's development, I can understand people having strong feelings about designs: designs have in no small part built the community to be what it is today. Although the voice is the core of the product, vocal synths as a culture are so much more than just music software now. Artwork will always have an emotional impact on fans, because most people were drawn to this fandom by a combination of music and illustration. Each artform represents part of what makes vocal synths appealing, so it's natural that fans will be passionate about both!

On that note, I frequently think about how it's interesting that vocaloid music centers around NND and YouTube, when they're probably not the most common way to listen to music day-to-day. The surrounding culture is mixed-media by nature, and in many cases an animation is part of the experience of a song. Would Oedo Julia Night be the same without this?

I'm definitely a fan of the doujin angle. It's amazing that people have come together as a collective to define characters and make so many things centered around them, and how it spans so many different types of media.
