(also I'm still not sure how the community feels with Ritsu usage after everything, honestly i'm way past it. It's not like many people see my uploads anyway, but I hesitated because I don't want strangers being angry at me lol. I don't think using a voicebank should be political)

Know that I’m not angry at you or anything of the sort; I can’t in good faith support or casually listen to Ritsu anymore. I generally agree that these things shouldn’t be political, but it’s beyond political to me; the fact that he was first created as a caricature of trans people and cross dressers is something I could look past at first, because I figured his creator had grown up and moved past that... but knowing they support someone who openly wants to strip rights from LGBTQ+ people, people like myself — and trans people have it ten times worse, I have it comparatively easy — it’s just extremely uncomfortable. That’s my stance on the matter. It’s not a matter of politics so much as a matter of basic human rights.

Stepping off my soap box, and personal beliefs aside! This sounds really nice! You’ve really improved I feel. :ia_ani_lili:

How do you Utau users tune so well :kokone_lili:this sounds very good. The best I can do with Utau tuning is making very bad pitch bends:clara_ani_lili:

If I'm being frank, it doesn't anger me at all nor am I angry at the people themselves using him but it does make me deeply uncomfortable. Speaking for myself, it's just too much to ask of me to not see a person who supports someone that is of the belief that I shouldn't have human rights behind Ritsu, it's something I can't do. So I wanted to let you know that your tuning is lovely and not something to be ashamed of and I mean it, we both have been self-conscious about it and I didn't wanna leave you in the dark like that when you posted a cover and it's something I want you to know if you'll happen to use Ritsu again because I will ignore it. Not because I'm angry with you and definitely not because it's a bad cover because you're a talented tuner. It's because Ritsu content makes me very uncomfortable for the reason listed above and it's something I'd like to avoid for my sake.

Thank you all it means a lot!!! <3

@peaches2217 @patuk
I completely understand and appreciate hearing your thoughts on it!! I think I sounded a little insensitive in my comment so I just want to reiterate kind of;

What I meant when I said I was way past it was that I was past the fact of Canon supporting Trump. (Kind of... more like I learned to move past it I think.) But originally that was not the case, for awhile I was still shocked when everything came up and honestly felt a bit hurt and disappointed that the creator of one of my favourite UTAUs openly supported things I was directly against. At the time I wasn't sure I'd feel comfortable using Ritsu even in private. What kind of helped me was this thread I read on Twitter talking about the exact issue about separating the two. And the fact that I have kind of an attachment to the voicebanks, I've liked and used both Ruko and Ritsu so much for all the years I've been using UTAU so both voices are a bit special to me.

Even as I type this I feel like my beliefs start to conflict each other because I'm enjoying using a voicebank whose VP supports things I feel strongly against... it's still really messy for me to think about. I wish I could justify using Ritsu other than I like the voicebanks / special to me etc etc. It's definitely a hard topic for me and brings up a lot of personal thoughts. Being part of the LGBTQ+ community myself also, I still feel a bit guilty about using Ritsu. Like I said--very conflicting, and I know I shouldn't feel this way but I almost feel lesser for sitting here knowing about the Canon drama and yet still used Ritsu. It's been a few hours since I posted this and it's not sitting right in my conscience anymore. Sorry if I'm literally making no sense whatsoever, I'm still very conflicted obviously about where I SHOULD stand.

Anyways I hope I'm not coming off as insensitive at all. And I'm really glad you both said something. It made me think a lot more about where I feel I should stand in terms of using the voicebanks. I'll definitely have to think about it more and decide where exactly someone like me should stand in an issue like this. For now I think it's best I don't post anything publicly... until I have a better understanding of how I feel about everything. For now I just feel terrible ugh. I'm really sorry I made you both uncomfortable.

(btw, I think I've apologised for being wordy a few times of this forum, but now you get a look at just how wordy I actually am lol)

Hey, it’s not an issue of posting things publicly! It’s just This One Voicebank. You’re genuinely good, and I’d be devastated if you stoped posting your covers just because of it. It’s an all-around finicky situation, but it’s not at all on you.

We do not know Canon's personal stance on Trump's policies other then that he preferred Trump over Biden. That was all he said. There are LGBT that have voted for Trump in the previous election(and most likely the following one) as well, so to act as if none vote for him and support him does not sit right in me, especially to speak on their behalf since a group of people never share the exact same values or opinions.
I understand being uncomfortable, but for all we know Canon only knows Trump from vaguely following American politics, which I am not sure of how much they are covered in Japan. Even other Japanese people agreed with him and said they preferred Biden from what they saw in debates.

VBs should always be separated from their VP. The DDR trio's VPs are highly unprofessional and have said some terrible things, with one of them even posting publicly about non-con and support for shota content, but that is not going to affect DDR's VBs themselves for me or the community. SeeU's VP was involved in blackmailing but SeeU is still loved by myself and the community. I feel that this Canon situation is incredibly hypocritical in that they stand by synths voiced by people who have done and said bad things and blackmailing, but a man who cannot even vote for Trump is the ultimate evil. Canon has even said he will not talk about politics in the future, which implies to me that he does not want to talk about things he is not certain about(which is a very wise thing to do in any situation). I do not want to talk on anyone's behalf though, so take that part with a grain of salt.
I also feel like taking any Vipperloid(aside from Teto since there is not anything controversial about her) serious was a bad mistake by the English fandom. They were made as jokes purposely to shock people or make fun of the fandom, and how the community did not catch onto that is a bit shocking to me considering;
-Tei is a 18-year old yandere who masturbates publicly and is obsessed with a 14-year old and has that eye thing from Naruto(I forgot the name, but it was a reference to how OCs could be cringy) and her character item is a cucumber
-Ritsu is a 4-year old crossdresser who has a bullet-shooting bra(Correct me if I am wrong), bullies others, and hates Japan and loves Korea(That last part should have made Ritsu hated in Japan, but it did not for some reason.)
(There is nothing wrong with liking these voicebanks, and it is fine if you want to headcanon them as something else(I do the same with Mayu since yanderes are boring to me and I have not seen a good execution of them), and if my post came across as shaming their fans I apologize. I just wanted to say that it makes no sense to take their canon personalities seriously considering they are jokes.)

It is fine to be unhappy with what creators have done, but at the end of the day, you cannot control the creators of these things and how they feel, and it is best to separate them from their creation if you do not care for the creator. If that still does not work and you still feel uncomfortable with something, then do not look for it, and if you see it, ignore it and move on and pretend you did not see it. It is a perfectly fine thing to feel and there is nothing wrong with it. There are many who do not ship Oliver for example or click "do not recommend" for ship content with him because he is voiced by a child.
And do not worry about feeling wordy Krin. This post ended up being much more wordy then I was expecting.
This post was not meant to discredit anyone's feelings, I simply wanted to get this off of my chest as it has been brewing in me ever since this first began. I hope I was able to get my point across in a peaceful way and that it made sense.
(And just to clarify, I dislike both candidates, so I have no bias or favoritism towards either of them)
