Tutorial Modular Synths

I've been curious for awhile about how producers make some of the sounds they get for more electronic-type music--i.e., the sounds that don't seem like they can come from conventional instruments like guitars, other string instruments, wind instruments, etc.

Inspired by something I found in @Exemplar's post in the Non-Vocal Synth Audio Software/Hardware Sale Thread, I came to discover modular synths. Modular synths seem to basically take a raw sound wave and allow you to transform it in a variety of ways. You can see an example of what kinds of sounds can result in this promo video for Cherry Audio's Nucleus version of their Voltage Modular software:

Cherry Audio has also put out some tutorial videos on modular synths. I'd highly recommend for anyone to have a look at them. They show what modular synths are and how to use one. Beyond that, they cover other aspects of audio with broader applicability, like an explanation of Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release (ADSR), different waveform shapes, low/high/band pass filtering, and other things.
