So this kinda relates to the recent Dreamtonics drama, buuut... Does anyone else find it weird how parasocial the relationship between the fandom and the various companies and dev teams has become? It might just be a result of the Western vocal synth fandom skewing so young and me getting too...

SynthV Xia YuYao new VB crowdfunding campaign has begun

I'm not familiar with her UTAU VBs, but listening to her SynthV VBs, I don't think she stands out a whole lot among the other Chinese voicebanks, barring perhaps Solid.

    SynthV Synthesizer V Discussion Thread

I literally made a prediction in the 2023 Vocal Synth Predictions thread that German support would become a thing in commercial synths, then a German dictionary using English phonemes drops for Asterian and Solaria. It's nowhere near the same as SynthV having native German support, but I'm happy...

    Favorite producer?

This probably says a lot about my taste in Vocaloid music, buuut... Shu-t. He's an OG when it comes to Vocaloid (he started back when the V1s were still available), and he's still probably the most famous Meiko producer. 'Cradle of Destiny' blew my mind way back when I was still a noob to the...

    2023 Vocal Synth Predictions

I like how so many people here are predicting the fall of Piapro NT based on how little to no news we've received on it this year. Saying that, I can kinda see Crypton doing a u-turn and dropping a surprise announcement of a Miku V6 with AI and cross-language support. That would bring NT back to...

    2023 Vocal Synth Predictions

I normally don't attempt to make predictions on these threads because I'm terrible at guessing the future (a great case in point, the sudden appearance of V6), but I'm gonna throw in my wild card - with the rise in mainstream awareness and popularity of vocal synths in the West, eventually a VB...

    General Discussion Thread

It definitely feels like a throwback to the V2 era of character driven VBs, with the key difference being that even English companies are getting in on it this time. In the past, I don't recall English companies paying so much lip service to the fandom, aside from eventually jumping on the...

I think what annoys me about these fake/joke VBs is that the vocal synth fandom has long been marred by misinformation and fake info, especially in the Western fandom. Way back in the early days when Vocaloid was the only successful commercial synth and people only cared about the Cryptonloids...

    CeVIO CeVIO Discussion Thread

I know character profiles still exist for some modern VBs, but this really took me back to the late 2000s/early 2010s golden age of Vocaloid, when nearly everyone was inspired by Miku and tried to create characters that were beyond just being representations of a voicebank.

SynthV ASTERIAN for SynthV AI from Eclipsed Sounds

Theatrical reminds me a lot of Tonio, but in a good way! I also really like Gentle.

    SynthV Synthesizer V Discussion Thread

It's probably worth mentioning that Vocaloid's engine also renders its VBs in a way that gives them a distinct sound, to the point that some people have complained about VBs sounding too "Vocaloid-y" or obviously artificial in the past. It's hard to explain as well, but the simplest way to put...

Other SeeU & UNI now have new developers

At the very least, it's some proof that SeeU and Uni aren't dead as VBs. Active development may have completely fallen off, but at least they will still be sold and promoted for the foreseeable future.

    SynthV Synthesizer V Discussion Thread

I love Cong Zheng's tone, but at the same time I can see why some people think nearly all of Dreamtonics' VBs sound similar to each other. I don't think it helps that the letter VBs come out with regular frequency (unlike, say, a smaller third-party dev like Eclipsed Sounds right now, who are...

CeVIO Bang Dream x Cevio AI Collab

I'm not into Bang Dream in the slightest, but I already love how the two VBs sound, especially Rose. By CeVIO standards, they sound really high quality, and they mostly lack the engine noise that normally lets down CeVIO VBs.

SynthV ASTERIAN for SynthV AI from Eclipsed Sounds

His design is peak FABULOUS, I love it already. (But someone in the comments said his voice sounds like the guy who did 'Chocolate Rain', and now I'm mad at that comparison because I know I'd laugh my ass off if someone did a cover of it. orz)

Oh, I do agree that the noisiness has diminished overtime. It's just something that continues to bug me about CeVIO and stops me loving it as much as Vocaloid and SynthV. I'd be down for this if more companies offered support for browsers other than Chrome. It feels like we're back to the bad...

Although I do keep up with CeVIO as a voice synth, to this day I've never been a fan of its engine noise, not even with its AI version or Voicesona. CeVIO's engine noise sounds "buzzy" to me in a way that can be really unpleasant to my ears in some banks. Just to use the 1st Place girls as...

    SynthV Synthesizer V Discussion Thread

Someone else suggested that Volor could release a free PDF of the art that might have been used for the physical boxes. That would definitely take out some of the sting of the whole fiasco.
