I doubt another synth developed in Japan will overthrow Vocaloid (not even Piapro despite Miku being the new flagship for it), unless a company made an effort to directly appeal to English-speaking producers. The biggest stumbling block for all current synths right now is that they're mostly...
I agree that Yamaha might keep V5 going for a while longer compared to previous versions of Vocaloid. I can't see how V6 would push the program further, aside from additional language support, and even then, that's something that could be done within a V5 update.
I think Yamaha has been moving...
I didn't know IA Talk was voiced by a different VP! No wonder I hated it automatically when I first heard it - it didn't sound like Vocaloid IA at all.
(The more I hear about what 1st Place have been doing to IA over the years, the more sad I become, because she's one of my favourite Vocaloids.)
I'm still mad about IA English not being a Vocaloid, because I knew her voice wouldn't be as high quality in CeVIO compared to Vocaloid. (Plus, from a producer perspective, you can't really do bilingual Japanese and English IA songs because you can hear the differences between the two engines...
I think it depends on the song - some tracks call for less realistic vocals than others.
Probably not that unpopular, but I'll still say it anyway: Every time I hear IA English, even with the best tuning, I still think about how much better the voice would have sounded in Vocaloid or even...
In the early days of the fandom, character items (anyone else remember them?) tended to be based on food and drinks. So Miku had a leek/spring onion, Kaito had ice cream, Meiko had alcohol, etc. Depending on the fan, sometimes they would address the idea of how androids would function in human...
I've honestly forgot MMD was even still a thing because I dropped out of that side of the fandom years ago... I used to play around with it as a teen, but I could never get the hang of actually animating stuff in it because the learning curve was extremely steep (and a massive pain in the ass if...
To be honest, I think Rin got lucky because during the fandom explosion of the early V2 period, Western fans in particular weren't aware that Rin Act 1 had serious quality issues compared to Miku due to a lack of access to Japanese V2s, and Crypton fixed her later in Act 2. Nowadays, Western...
This is what's winding me up the most now about Kafu - Kaf's established fans are acting willfully blind about her quality issues. When Crypton dropped the beta version of Miku NT, we know a lot of Miku fans kicked a stink about the then-current quality of NT, which Crypton are still trying to...
I still can't get used to Type B... All I kept thinking while Iistening to the new demo was how much nicer the voice would have sounded if it was Type A.
I can hear improvements as well. Hopefully, Crypton will be able to iron out any current issues with Miku NT after she's released, especially since they're not under Yamaha's rules regarding updates anymore.
I think I need to hear more demos before I make a firm judgement. Right now, I think Yukari at least still sounds like her Vocaloid self, just with CeVIO's infamous engine noise. She's a massive step up from Kafu at least.
Her silhouette looks interesting though. It's making me wonder if...
If Yuzuru gets a song VB, I will freak the hell out because I loved his voice type as a talk bank, and I was really sad he wasn't a Vocaloid or anything.
Definitely true - some Vocaloids have been hurt by ToS agreements that make trying to use the VB for commercial stuff a pain in the ass. (I.e. Fukase.)
I've tried more traditional ramen in local restaurants and okonomiyaki at home. I enjoyed them both, but I'm kind of picky with toppings so I usually prefer to make ramen at home, unless the restaurant ramen has stuff I really like on. (Usually either chicken or beef, with an egg and mushrooms...
I'm kind of mixed on these opinions... Vocaloid and other vocal synths will always be associated with technology and the future because of their entire concepts, but at the same time I do wish the fandom would spread outside of anime, EDM and tech nerd circles. I just like variety in the vocal...
1.) The icon for that upload is gold.
2.) I know you admit that this pitched down Kafu is low quality, but you can still tell the devs edited the voice for the final versions. The previous versions of pitched down Kafu didn't have that much engine noise, or that muffled sound.
I do hope Wat is talking about additional VBs for Miku down the line, including perhaps her English and Chinese banks. I'm currently still salty about Solid in particular not being ported to NT lol.
Meiko and Kaito being updated first makes sense because their latest versions are still on V3...
Holy crap, if that is true (and I've just noticed the drop in quality too after listening to those videos again), Kafu's bank is actually in a much worse final state than I thought. Yikes!
