I'm disappointed with NT Dark as well - it sounds like a softer version of NT Original, but not in a good way. Dark was arguably one of the most iconic appends across all of Miku's Vocaloid versions, and it had a distinct tone to boot, which is now missing.
Strangely enough, Original now...
At this point, I feel like people are only following Miku NT just to see whatever drama happens next. This release has been extremely botched since it was originally announced. I don't like crapping on Crypton, and I'm certainly not one of those fans who are like "RESPECT MIKU-SAMA CRYPTON", but...
Yaaay, I was right! I'm so glad Solaris pulled through - she'll definitely stand out among vocal synths in general, not just SynthV. I'll look forward to her development.
I'm just gonna list the ones that are still regularly active (or are trying to post regularly again), because I'm subbed to a lot of channels that have either gone completely dead or post infrequently.
- Cinemassacre (well, Angry Video Game Nerd I guess, but still)
- Caddicarus
- Bennett the...
I remember that crap in both primary and secondary school! In hindsight, I feel that advice was intended to discourage kids from reading for pleasure and looking into a writing career, because apparently, published authors never repeat words or phrases. Plus, replacing "said" with a fancier...
Knowing how crowdfunding campaigns typically work, there might be a surge of donations towards the end of Solaris's campaign, which may or may not get her over the line. (To be fair, I am worried that her donations are coming in too slowly.)
A mixture of YouTube, offline digital files and CDs ripped to my laptop. I don't see the appeal in Spotify (online connection needed, plus ads on the standard version). I'm an old fart who still uses an iPod - in fact, it's my favourite way to listen to albums, aside from playing the actual CD...
On a random note, I still can't get used to the real pronunciation of CeVIO. It reminds me of word "cheese" for some reason and it bugs the crap outta me lol.
Going back on topic, as a native English speaker, I did notice some rhythm and fluidity issues, but overall, Maki has a really nice talk...
I'm not opposed to "moe" tuning for mature banks (one of my favourite Flower songs is 'Frost', and she sounds almost like a little kid), but it depends how it's done (there's a huge difference between cutesy and grating), and there are some banks that you just can't pull off the moe sound with.
As a Brit, I feel very detached from the wider fandom demands of American accented VBs, since Zero G already covered my British accented niche years ago. ^^; If anything, I would prefer English banks with more unique accents - just looking at my home country, Scottish, Welsh and Irish accented...
I know a couple of songs where the producers did remakes for them, but later deleted the original versions, meaning that the first versions are lost to time because I didn't think to save them elsewhere. There was a Tianyi song I really liked years back when she originally came out, but the...
I enjoy watching the old dub when I need a good laugh. Even though it's butchered as hell compared to the OG Japanese, I still enjoy the Saturday morning cartoon vibe the old dub gave off.
Presumably because they're still included as starter models in MMD. I've noticed other old-school fanloids like the genderbends (Mikuo, Kaiko, etc.), Zatsune Miku, those rainbow Kaito recolours, etc. have fallen off the radar for the most part, but not Neru and Haku because of MMD videos.
Probably not an unpopular opinion, but I'm actually glad the fandom has matured and calmed down (to the point of turning into the general vocal synth fandom). I feel that the Vocaloid fandom back in the late 2000s/early 2010s had a bad reputation of being full of weeaboos, but now Vocaloid isn't...
Yamaha hasn't shown any interest in new VBs from third parties in how many years now? Even during the V4 era, I noticed third party Vocaloids were dwindling off. They seem more interested in experimental projects that utilise V5 in a manner other than simply singing songs, like Charlie.
