I know of Death In Paradise (native Brit here), and even then you don't ever expect to see anything related to J-culture appear on TV, let alone Vocaloid. This is really random. X)
Back when VO was still alive, some people set up their own threads which served a similar purpose. A blog feature would have been a bit more secure/personal, however.
My family don't care about my interests in general (let alone Vocaloid and J-culture) so long as I still do well in both the education and looking-for-work sides of my life. They're not above making fun of it sometimes though.
In general, J-culture is still obscure in the UK because...
I miss the original MapleStory where the entire game was essentially a 2D side-scrolling RPG. Knowing there's a 3D sequel makes me feel ancient because I used to play the original ten years ago. O_O
I just sit indoors and ignore all the trick-or-treaters outside. (Halloween now carries a negative connotation in the UK as being the night where yobs run riot depending on where you live).
I graduated from university last month with First Class Honours (that's the highest 'grade' you can get for a degree in the UK), and I'm about to start a Master's degree next Saturday. (They only offered a part-time schedule for the Master's, which is why I have Saturday classes now).
CV04 being vaporware disappoints me because at this point, I feel that Crypton are coasting on their past successes without moving forward in terms of Vocaloid contributions. They keep rereleasing Miku for every new engine because she's always guaranteed to sell, but at this point I'd rather see...
Mitchie M's older songs like 'Freely Tomorrow' were not as cutesy compared to the songs he does now. I mean, they were clearly J-pop, but not the "kawaii" kind of J-pop that the genre as a whole is stereotyped as sounding like, which Mitchie M leans towards more now. I still like his songs, but...
I've always heard about MJ and his family having issues with Sony both while he was still alive and after he died. This case is already serious as it is (since this is pretty much posthumous identity theft), but it wouldn't surprise me if more leaks out about Sony and MJ's estate in the future.
I still don't understand why IA English was released to CeVIO rather than VOCALOID, though I do think the muffled pronunciation can be fixed. The engine noise in CeVIO doesn't help IA English at all though, and I think it causes most of the muffle-ness(?) in the first place.
Me and my boyfriend love the Taiko games, so we're definitely getting the Switch version. I hope it's not as dumbed down as the PS2 localisation though (I swear I'm not a weeaboo complaning about the lack of Japanese music, but the OST was pretty dire for that game).
