also, utau getting turned into vocaloids is, in general, exciting,,,, but what is the point of this? that's not a rhetorical question btw, i'm genuinely asking, why would anyone pay for this instead of using her utau vb?

it's not more realistic (and it can't be, bc she's a completely artificial voice + her whole appeal is that she's robotic), it sounds. buzzier. especially in the high range. kinda giving pre-ai cevio

English/Chinese capability (they hit the AI VB stretch goal) & Vocalochanger, It also seems that Vocaloid still has a positive reputation and lots of users within Japan. Unless Miku goes to another engine (that isn’t Piapro) I don’t think that will ever change. Is OpenUTAU as popular overseas as it is here?

I don't think OpenUTAU is as popular over there, but I do see a few Japanese users using it from time-to-time
