The higher tone in the demo is likely a tuning choice, gaburyu has always tuned IA with lower GEN to make her higher pitched. Can’t confirm that for sure though. She does sound pretty similar to other songs with lower GEN like this one for example.

By the way, 1st Place is also directly asking for feedback on her voice based on the sample shown:
Here’s the direct link to the Google forms page if anyone would like to send them anything :ia_lili:

Fingers crossed IA V6 English via cross-lang will sound much more accurate, smoother and understandable compared to IA CeVIO. I've heard some good songs with IA CeVIO English, but CeVIO's engine noise was always present and it could still get grating sometimes.

It's also nice to think that at some point, Miku, Gumi and IA will be on the same engine version again. :miku_lili::gumi_lili::ia_lili:
Have you heard her 2.0? There's essentially no engine noise there. That's why I'm more confused about this all than anything - 1st Place was the first (ha) company to jump ship before V4 even came out. IA and ONE 2.0 are some of the clearest synthesis you could get, so what's really the benefit of going to V6 here? There's cross-lang, but IA is already bilingual (and V6's Chinese cross-lang isn't good enough to warrant that). Vocalochanger maybe? Just across the board a very strange move.

I think it might just be a case of the company deciding to make her available on multiple engines so they can reach customers who use X but not Y vocal synth, like how Internet has been making both Vocaloid 6 and Synth V banks for the same character. I get the impression most people who don't like CeVIO/Voisona usually don't like V6 either so maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but that's my guess. (And now I'm daring to dream of IA Synth V in the distant future lol oops)

It depends. CeVIO and VoiSona have their feet in both camps right now in terms of "we have a lot of cool characters," and also "we have really high quality synthesis." So, on one hand I could see why CeVIO/VoiSona fans and V6 fans have overlap (V6 has many characters). However, I do agree that most would find the quality drop to be a significant hurdle. I'm a fan of V6 myself, pre-ordered Galaco as soon as I could and got the bundle, but objectively it's the weakest commercial engine for the largest price point. I don't see much regular V6 AI usage either - while anecdotal I'm still fairly confident that the most usages of V6 come from people who want to use older Vocaloids (not AI).

I feel like they should've just like, released a re-package of her V3 voicebank or something. Yes this is an alpha version, but it doesn't sound much different from a regular V6 release, and all of the V6 voicebanks just pale in comparison to competitors for a much steeper price. YAMAHA made a 2.0 vocoder update for VX-B that sounded significantly better last year, I'm still wondering why we never got that...or any word of if it would come out.

Tbf the price point of V6 gets lower if we get it from starter packs, in starter packs the price can be considered competitive. For instance the starter pack of V6 + GUMI V6 allows to get it for around 120 bucks1738102488990.png

Though the V6 standard banks are not included if we buy it from a starter pack

i think the point of IA V6 is exactly what people have stated already, i feel as if they wanted to make something that is both AI, but really feels true to where IA started... yeah, her 1.0 cevio vb can achieve that in a way, but what i see here is the start of V6 becoming more of a fully fledged (albeit niche) character-vocal-first engine due to how third parties are choosing to take advantage of the software - i think that's pretty cool.
at the end of the day, vocal synthesis isn't just about realism, and though i would understand V6 being an odd choice as people think it's not really good at realism OR being perfectly 'vocaloid-y', i've already seen a lot of people hyped about these prospects. i also just think this kind of thing is healthy for the vsynth space overall.
