Make a VOCALOID sound more sad?

I'd say maybe use lower brightness, with some breathiness (or less) and having some heavy vibrato ? Also maybe try to play with the gender/pitchbend sensitivity ? (In my memory, and experience, MAIKA seemed pretty reactive to brightness lowering, especially on her lower range since she seems to work like a power scale... Because when I was trying to make her a tone that could be ONA's to differentiate them even though they're technically the same voicebank but not the same use for language, I noticed it'd make her sound very quiet and nearly melancholic... Then it depends if you want to make her sound sad as in crying out loud or more on the quiet side, like being all melancholic and sorrowful)
