so yeah idk if this is the right place to be posting these sorts of questions, but I notice a lot of members getting banned immediately after joining. Are they just bots, or something? (ik its a dumb question lmao im just super curious.)

From my knowledge, petty much every banned user are bots that post spam to go to shady websites and buy enhancement pills. I think the mods talk to you/give you a short ban (ex: a day or two) if you break a rule that isn't horrific if you're not a bot, haha.
If you stay up into the wee hours of the night, you'll sometimes spot a glimpse of the legendary Ketobot, pushing his mythical wares. It's a truly holy occasion.
But yeah, as Uncreep said, they're mostly bots. I think in my nearly-two years here I've only seen one legit member get banned, so don't worry!
