I even feel like untuned, it still has some problems, tbh. (notably the high notes being pinched and the buzzy sound)
It's not bad but like
it's not better than Vocaloid/UTAU/CeVIO in every way, or even close.

At 1:36:00 in this video, Circus mentioned that he had a difficult time getting in contact with the SynthV folks about some issues regarding being able to commercialize a song he wanted to make with the software

That scares me. I wonder which voice he was trying to get permission to use? I assume Eleanor since she speaks English. I really like using her (way easier to get English to sound emotional compared to English Vocaloids for my tuning style), but if her usage is questionable... Maybe Quadimension's characters vs the default Synth Vloids have different rules?

I'm pretty sure that was back before the paid version was released he had asked (if I recall from his posts back then). I don't think they were giving anyone permission at that point, since they'd have been releasing the paid version of SynthV not long after that. Unless he's asked again after he bought the permanent license from them. If so, then I don't know.

Did he say "difficult time getting in contact", or "difficult time getting permission"?

Because, the first one is concerning on an entirely different level...

I found the original post (it was for the song "Time"). Eleanor had originally been planned to be the main vocalist but at the time he contacted them, he was told there was no commercial license available for Eleanor (this was around November last year). But this meant he couldn't use her for the song but he did plan to create an alternate Eleanor version in the future when there was a commercial license. I'm assuming he just hasn't gotten the license yet or maybe it's something about their requirements to get the license (like a fee or something). I haven't bought the licensed version of SynthV yet so I don't know what kind of ToS comes with it.

There's nothing in the EULA for the SynthV editor against commercial use, but for Eleanor (and the other VOLOR banks as well), you need to get separate permission for commercial use.

If so, that will definitely limit SynthV's popularity among producers. Having to contact a company every time you want to release a song is a restriction people don't expect after purchase. However, if the $60 editor licence grants you commercial permission to use all the voices you've bought, that sounds normal.

I remember this discussion happened on the SynthV user forum a while ago. Basically, the editor license will allow you to use the free VBs a la Eleanor Forte commercially, but since they're owned by Animen I believe if it's going to earn a significant amount of money then it's advised to contact Animen themselves to discuss it as you would with most voicebanks.
