ACE Studio is interesting to use. The actual voices and quality of synthesis (including cloud rendering speeds) are very good, but the Chinese-only interface and general... unintuitive feeling it has sometimes are downsides for now. The almost 5:1 ratio of feminine to masculine voices makes it feel like CeVIO AI too LOL

I think it'll be quite nice to use when there's an interface translation and/or tutorials, but you can kinda feel that they really did make this in about 4 months. Will at least be trying to use it! Wen Li and Yun Hao are simply too good.

It's a little LQ since the icons are so small (I'll remake it if I can get better-quality versions), but here's my tentative translation of the current available singers and their info, as provided in the desktop app! My favorites so far are Tarara and Xiao Mo.

Although I don't have any songs to use them with, I'm really enjoying listening to the ACE voices: they sound lovely. Fingers crossed that support for the software continues to grow!

Oh I noticed it hasn't been mentioned here yet, but the developers said in the official Discord server that they're working on the English and Japanese interfaces. The v1.0.3 update that was released yesterday added support for Hiragana input when having a vocal sing Japanese also.

Speaking of the update, has anyone else had problems updating the engine? I get the prompt every time I open Ace, I run the update, it says the update was successful and asks me to restart the engine… and then it gives me the same prompt when I open it again. If I click out of it, it shows I’m still running v1.0.2.

I've not had this problem, all I can recommend is uninstalling and re-downloading from the site (that version is v1.0.3).

So I heard secondhand that making an ACE voicebank apparently requires surrendering character rights, unless you're a big enough name like Luo Tianyi. Is that true?? With how big a deal characters are in the vocal synth scene, that seems like an awful lot of control taken away from developers. I don't know if I like it. Even with how amazing ACE sounds, if that's real policy it makes me pretty hesitant to support it.

(Side complaint: What is it with Chinese vocal synth engines and having names that are near-impossible to search for online? X Studio, ACE Studio/Virtual Singer; you're killing me over here!)

I don't think that's a real policy I don't think...? If you mean Luan Ming and Wen Li, both their designs and character were winning entries during a character contest for timedomAIn's new voices. They're timedomAIn's own voices though and the rules were laid out in the contest rules so you're not losing those characters unknowingly or through force (kinda like how VSinger had their characters, except Luan Ming and Wen Li keep their original lore and design)

If you mean Chu Ci and Que He, vocals from the HiDii Orchestra, I'm actually not sure. Que He especially moreso considering that his design was decided through a contest through ACE. There's nothing that suggests they're banned from moving to another engine though.

Aside from them, Yun Hao's coming to more engines after ACE (Vogen, Vocal Sharp and NNSVS are on his profile page as upcoming voices). Hui Yu, an upcoming ACE vocal, as well I believe is coming to more AI engines aside from ACE. Student Zhibin, another upcoming ACE vocal, will also receive a Vogen alongside an ACE according to his profile page.

This rule is in place for Deepvocal, a different Chinese synthesizer. (Or at least was... haven't kept up with Deepvocal in a very long time). Not ACE Studio
