I have no issues with the name, as we live in a world where one of our leading vocal synthesizers is called ...Synthesizer
(no one can touch the GOAT "VOCALOID" in the naming department. I would consider the memorability and immediately clear concept within this brand name a significant factor in the break-out virality of the entire industry. No other company has even come close to as effective a brand name for vsynths and we are all basically riding in the wake of its success)
That said, the decision of whether or not to make a new thread for nChant has me scratching my chin like a Greek philosopher. Is it a new engine? Or just a new name for Maghni? Was Maghni AI just a figment of our imagination?
I think to the fandom, this is still Maghni under a new identity, but the developers would prefer it be seen as a whole new project. Spiritually, both positions have reasonable arguments to support them. Much of the codebase was originally developed under the name Maghni, the team members are all original Maghni team members. They would prefer not to be developing Maghni, but Maghni hangs over them as a sort of divine punishment. However, almost all distinguishing features of Maghni have been removed piece-by-piece. The company line states it's unconnected, but the subtext of even mentioning the Vocatone libraries shows they haven't entirely exorcised their past.
One last note: they mention that Crescendia retains ownership of the Maghni brand, indicating that nChant is not by Crescendia. I initially thought this was a typo; why separate from Crescendia, I thought the current devs were Crescendia? There hadn't been an announcement from Crescendia of Cocoa and Aku departing the company - but Cinna and Tart aren't present on the nChant team page. So it appears Crescendia had an internal split?
Perhaps handing over the legal responsibility of Maghni to Crescendia then effectively retiring the company allows members of the crowdfund to wipe their hands of the engine.

Step 1: Hand over responsibility for delivering the Maghni crowdfund to Crescendia
Step 2: Everybody leaves Crescendia
Result: No one is responsible for the Maghni crowdfund
Crescendia was made the unlucky carrier of Maghni, then metaphorically buried in the desert like vsynth nuclear waste disposal. With no connection to Crescendia (sacrificed to cleanse Natalia, Austin, Cocoa, and Aku of Maghni's sins), nChant frees themselves of Maghni and the crowdfund.
