Right??? The userbase of this site is small enough and a large enough portion of it is staff that it seems like issues should get resolved or at least spotted faster! Of course, a small, more personally-intertwined group of users means that any fight is gonna have a bigger effect than it normally would

Vocaverse and Reddit are fine. And they're the only places I go. But if you go on Twitter and other platforms you can find all sorts of drama and industry SNAFUs. That's not even counting the social media in Asia at large, which sometimes has its own laundry list of issues.
So it's stress from elsewhere that is causing people to just cut themselves off from all social media for a while.

I've been concerned seeing several folks leaving/on hiatus, too. I mean, I haven't seen anything that looked inflammatory/like it blew up on here, so I'd been thinking maybe it was over PM or on the Discord? Or maybe on other sites entirely? Dunno, I just want VVN and its users to stay healthy.

The community on here is small and that means when there's an issue of sorts, even if its small, its effect is large.
I know I was quite "meh :/" about the whole discussion of...god I don't even remember which synth. Was it Anri? when everyone was immediately like "she looks too young and dresses too schoolgirlish to be 21, there must be an ulterior motive here!" The discussion made me uncomfortable because in some lights it started to feel sexist and bodyshamey. It definitely made me feel bad about myself, as someone who is short, babyfaced and wears a lot of "younger people" clothes. (yall can come for my appearance but not my fashion sense! i draw the line there!) But my opinion was the less popular one and hearing multiple people essentially say "No youre wrong", and continuing to say things that made me feel like shit, really put me off participating in conversations like that for awhile. I've been less interested in interacting here since.
Mmm...I feel like a small userbase can get kind of echo chambery. If you have the opinion that goes against the grain you feel like you're being isolated. There's not really a clear solution for that, other than trying to be more supportive of other people's viewpoints.
I think because these issues are by nature so small though, the average user of this site, if not involved, doesn't really see them. I don't expect anyone else to really look at the Anri thread and be like "yes this is big drama". But to me, it was enough.
