Time will tell, but this is take a little too long for comfort to the point i think they abandon the rest of their products. When it come to vocal synths marketing, i know little to nothing but i think they knows it was not profitable enough to do that.

Even I'm starting to wonder if Crypton have realised NT is a busted flush and they're planning to move their characters back to Vocaloid. Miku V6 with AI and crosslingual support would bring a ton of excitement back to them. I agree that it's taking far too long for any recent news on NT. The fact that you can still buy the Vocaloid versions of their characters says a lot to me.

I'm not sure about how realistic that prospect is ( tho I've heard rumors of CFM having something big/good planned ahead ) but I'd love Miku and the other Cryptonloids on V6 AI, I love how Gumi turned out and I'd have high hopes for the CFM gang turning out great and still true to themselves...but just wishful thinking haha

I agree. R&D is expensive. Project Sekai provides an environment to test NT, and the results are mixed at best. Everyone is aware of this, Crypton principally I'm sure considering they are the ones bearing the brunt of trying to push that project through. Unlike Yamaha and Techno Speech, Piapro Studio seems to be a product developed by experts in VST programming, as opposed to researchers studying this kind of synthesis. You can hear that in the sound, and while it's unique and the goals of the software are something I appreciate, something had to give.

I'm not sure if the next step is Crypton V6, as much as I would love for it to be, but I think whatever it is will be very responsive to the current community's explosion and focus on music. When the Miku YouTube channel was rebranded, they pivoted to become 39ch, have started releasing songs that push the boundaries of the Hatsune Miku image, and announced that they would commit to becoming a cultural hub for all vocal synthesis that induces new creations and unites new and old listeners. They've followed through with that, updating their "new releases" playlist with songs that have nothing to do with Crypton. There's a ROSE song, an Una song, multiple RIME songs, and a KAFU song.

I'm excited for what's to come and can only hope they don't drag their feet too much.
