past two months i have been having near constant appointments to figure out if i have a serious learning disability and it very very much explains my failure to learn coding due to not understanding said issue-- perfect to conflict with my dreams, i have very bad dsycalculia lol. (theres even more but i wont go into it)

fun fact, dsycalculia also affects your ability to learn music!!! which also explains my huge struggle to learn music in the form of playing it, or reading it (struggle as in, i never could and always gave up). i can throw midi notes on a piano roll bc theres no math involved or numbers to pay attention to- i can figure it out with visual midi notes but listening and playing was a no go. when it comes to think about notes or chords, im lost. numbers look just like symbols and dont feel like they have any technical value. gotta count on my fingers for everything and i cant read analog clocks!

welcome to the club of dyscalculia 🙃
And congrats on making your game demo! I know how damn hard that is (tried many times and gave up quickly), that's a huuuuge achievement!

And I have the exact same issues!! Can't read clocks, fingers all the time, music is confusing (visual and sound don't connect)

LOL glad i am not alone then @Mika i am still kinda surprised i packaged the game up and put the .exe online just an hour ago... still anxious i did something wrong :P

seriously in 4th grade i realized i still couldnt read a clock (it i tried i would count each part of it. and if someone said "counter clockwise" vise versa... i had to draw around the clock to figure it out.) i thought i would get it but then like i never did lmao. all of it i just thought was normal. it hit me harder after the dx when i went somewhere and had to add up a tip and i was in front of this server like counting it over 4 times to get it right and i felt so bad... glad i know why this has been hard but its so frustrating too

I ran into this article about how kids who can’t read sheet music might benefit from ways of teaching that are similar to what’s used for people who are dyslexic. I don’t know if those sorts of methods might help with dyscalculia or not, but thought that I’d share it.
