The vocal synth community is the 1st community I saw using amino unironically on a larger scale fghjgh I always stayed away cuz I heard nothing but bad things about it, what's it exactly like?

Understandable buddy, Sometimes, forums are more "controlled" than amino
I usually use This forum and amino, I've been thinking about leave amino, but I met a lot of people friendly people and I don't want to lose contact with them :/

@patuk i joined it a very long time ago and it isnt awful, but its just REALLY busy. in terms of consuming content i cant imagine looking at much else other than the featured stuff, because its hard to have a controlled feed outside of who you follow. i felt that it could be a bit nonsensical, in that theres not many ways to organize posts. like theres categories, but for the most part your feed are "featured", "following" and "newest" and so its kinda just a big pool of stuff in your face due to how many people use it and how much categories arent used at all/correctly.

its not horrendous by any means but i also purely found it as a way to promote my content to young wild fans and that was it. the audience there is super young (im 21 and most people there who liked by stuff were 13-16) so i definitely didnt go there to make friends tbh. and i think thats why i cant see myself going back there for any real reason! but the downside is it seems video views dont carry to my videos if they are watched on the Amino player? i had posts get featured with TONS of likes and comments, but none of those views were carrying to my video. so i also found it to be a bit of a waste in terms of view count for my videos :/ (one video i had had 300 views, but on amino it had 2k likes- i have a hard time beleving almost 2k people didnt watch the video or look at it long enough to count as a view)

in general the community is just like, majorly young fans and lots of talk about all sorts of things. you can get your rabid fans, your ranters, etc, ppl who just like to argue. it can definitely have its bad and i find the age level of amino making that worse. im too old to be surrounded by tweens who wanna yell about vocaloid ships lmao

I took one look at Amino back around the time VO was closing down, and I quickly realised the majority of users trended fairly young, with a general "young and immature" vibeon the site to match. As a 20-something, I'm way too old to be screaming about Vocaloid ships and memes now.

I prefer the more mature and moderated nature of forums, along with the need to write up substantial posts. I left DeviantART completely a couple of weeks ago because of a bunch of long-term issues I've had with it, but the one thing I'm currently missing about dA is the forums there. I went on a hunt for other fandom forums a while back, but I couldn't find anything that wasn't half dead or didn't have substantial Off-Topic/General threads where I could discuss about other things if I wanted to.

yeah i think i checked out Amino when i was 19 or so, and its been a few years since and i just cant fit in there lot... it was fine for advertising but it was too young and too fandom-y? for me to wanna stay even for posting my covers alone. plus, being an adult, i do show my stuff w the intent of like "come look at my profile and art, im looking for a job!" and 14 year olds purely wanna consume the content, rarely support it in any form outside of that (which is fine, i just need to show my stuff in spaces where i know there are older people willing to help monetize my work lmao)

its been ages since i used a forum like this, it feels like they kinda fell out of style? but im glad to have come across here. i still use DA, FA, and Tumblr simple due to the following i still get from those places, but man the whole shift of interest in social platforms has been obnoxious, with how some of them are formatted in ways that just arent useful or easy for creators! i have a twitter and instagram, but i honestly cant stand them in terms of content sharing, like videos or covers.

@morrysillusion I definitely understand the feeling of "outgrowing" fandom stuff and certain sites because they trend too young and rely on fleeting demographics. I've been feeling it since I've aged into my 20s - I still enjoy a bunch of nerdy and fandom stuff, but I don't want to associate myself so much with wider fandom culture anymore, if that makes any sense.

I do think forums like this have sadly fallen out of style in comparison to modern social media, but on the other hand, forums going niche means that discussions can be more meaningful, and it's easier to build a tight community compared to in the past. I use Instagram just to look at fashion, nature pics, home decor ideas and some fandom stuff, but that's it. Its appeal in fandom spaces is limited to artists.

@Blue Of Mind thats exactly the feel tbh. i still am "in" fandoms but not how i was when i was 15 on tumblr or whatever. i enjoyed it greatly but started to see issues with it and certain incidents made me want to distance myself from that kind of fandom stuff. ive rewired by use of social media a lot this past year or so, and its been nice. i avoid toxic, discourse filled fandom stuff- i dont follow ppl who post that or i mute people entirely if i want to stay mutuals (they arent like, bad ppl, i just dont wanna see so much chatter lol), i have gone towards majorly following fashion, art, nature specific accounts. its been quite chill i must say, it leaves me way less stressed and i feel like i can put down my phone if i need to, where before i would be too caught up in interactions and discourse or whatever. no more! the forums like this are nice, even if theyre not super active. i like have a controlled place to still talk and discuss things i like.
