That sounds similar to what Voctro Labs went on to do - I could see it being useful for composers! Although you can make choirs with current vocal synths, there isn't anything specialised for it, or integrated into composition apps.

I think it's a good idea to release a new standalone version if they're doing a big GUI overhall - being forced to use a new UI is annoying if you're someone who likes and is used to the original, so it's nice to have it be an optional upgrade.
