I saw this and I immediately thought Yamaha were trying to a pull a CeVIO/VoiSona with Vocaloid. The voices are fine, but those "avatars" are so lame and unfitting! I'd be down for a revival of the stock image era of Vocaloid (nowadays, we either get anime avatars, silhouettes or Dreamtonics's...
For that matter, I'd love to hear Welsh and Irish-accented English VBs! (Avanna's VP was speculated to be from Dublin(?), but you can't really hear an Irish accent in her bank at all). I'd say we have Australian accents covered with Ninezero (though Sweet Ann's VP was supposedly Australian as...
Knowing that Gemvox was quickly caught out for using obvious AI backgrounds on their official demo uploads, I wouldn't be surprised if Sapphire's art was also the same case. It doesn't help that her art doesn't match with Topaz's at all (despite it being really... iffy, it was still done by a...
I agree, and not to mention there's so many UTAUs and similar free/open source VBs out there of varying quality that a thread like this would easily get bogged down by obscure banks most of us haven't heard of. (It's why I mostly stick to talking about professional, paid banks when it comes to...
I find Nemu to be a step up from Tone Rion (who I found to be legit obnoxious, especially on V3), but her voice type is definitely an acquired taste.
I can't say I legitimately hate any voice synth. There's certain voice types I dislike more than others (such as what I can only describe as...
Sapphire sounds good, but it's Gemvox, so I'm just gonna ignore her lol.
And yeah, is there no demo available for Hisui? (I also find it funny how they share the same name as the historic name for Sinnoh in Pokemon Legends: Arceus).
Already, I'm happy with how Miku V6 sounds - it's basically Miku's default VB on an AI engine, which is what most of us wanted. (I'm also glad it doesn't sound like NT lol).
I could hear some fuzziness in the demo, but I think that's just V6's engine noise. I wasn't expecting SynthV's quality...
I'm genuinely not surprised this project has struggled to the point that the new dev team are almost about to discard the previous code and start again. I can still remember when Maghni was originally announced and almost everyone on here (including myself) gave the project a side-eye because of...
1.) It's Xitter. Everyone's angry for no reason on there lol.
2.) Ace Studio isn't popular with the wider vocal synth fandom for multiple reasons, so it's rare we talk about it here.
When I say "crappy", I meant it looked more like a preliminary sketch for a vocal synth design rather than a final drawing. It just seems rushed and lazy to me.
I agree! Miku English V3 and V4's phonemes can sound strange sometimes when certain combos are used, which massively lets down both the quality and the clarity of the banks. (It's hard to explain, but I've noticed Miku English has a bad tendency to either over- or underenunciate words if you...
I'm surprised at how good Rin and Len sound in NT! I'm starting to wonder if NT is a synth that processes sharper, more powerful voices the best compared to softer tones (think of how UTAU works), so the Kagamines came out good while Miku is still struggling a bit, even in NT2.
Even back in the golden era of V2, there were a lot of people who were really only Miku fans who liked super-popular songs like World Is Mine and didn't know anything else about Vocaloid as a software, a fandom and a budding music culture. If you were lucky, they probably also knew of a token...
