Magical Mirai 2025 - Questions and Recommendations :mell_lili: :kanatomell_lili: :mell_lili: :kanatomell_lili:

- When are the dates for Magical Mirai 2025 going to be announced?
As a tradition, every year around Miku day, so probably around March 9th. At the same time, you can expect the announcement of official website, with first information about main artwork, locations and tickets. Please follow official Crypton Future Media (@cfm_miku) and Magical Mirai (@magicalmirai) twitter accounts for the latest news and information.
-UPDATED 2025/03/06: announced!!🌟🌠

- I heard that the main event will take place in August..?
Yes, organizers have confirmed Magical Mirai 2025 to take place in Sendai, Osaka and Tokyo during August, but more details about dates and locations have not been announced yet. These are my personal guesses:
【SENDAI】2025年8月 (maybe August 1-2-3rd?)
- Sendai International Center ?
- Yume Messe Miyagi ?
- Sendai Mediatheque ?
- Sendai Civic Auditorium ?
【OSAKA】2025年8月 (maybe August 15-16-17th?)
INTEX Osaka (Osaka) Building ?
【TOKYO】2025年8月 (maybe August 29-30-31st?)
Makuhari Messe (Chiba, Tokyo) hall ?
-UPDATED 2025/03/06: official information about Magical Mirai 2025 dates and venues:
-SENDAI (Sunplaza Hall) August 1-3
-OSAKA (Intex Osaka) August 9-11
-TOKYO (Makuhari Messe) August 29-31

- What are the general rules of the event?
Usually the important page with the general rules is published a few months before the event, but to give you an idea, here is the official page of Magical Mirai 2024 attending rules (for both exhibition and concerts):

- What are SS tickets and S tickets? Which one is recommended or easier to get? And how about the accomodation plan?
There are basically two ways to get a concert ticket from overseas: lottery and accomodation plan. The lottery gives you the option to choose from SS ticket (near the stage) or S ticket (behind or around the SS area), you apply during the lottery period, and if you win, your card will be charged only for the winning tickets. Usually, there is higher demand for the evening concerts, especially in Tokyo, so for example if you choose a day concert and another location (Sendai or Osaka), you'll have higher chances of getting a ticket.
Both the SS ticket and S ticket are very good to enjoy the concert, also because the seat number is random, you can't choose the seat location.
The accomodation plan is different: it's a limited plan, so there are tickets limited to each location. You can choose from various hotels and there is included a SS concert ticket (day or evening concert, random seat number), but you need to apply fast once the plan starts (they give all information some weeks in advance), because usually most of tickets get sold-out in 30 minutes. You can apply for multiple days and locations, but each application needs to be different and it really depends on the hotels/tickets availability.
Important notice: the concert ticket has your name printed on it, and there are some ID check at the ticket entrance, so please apply only for the event tickets you are sure to attend, it is strictly prohibited to give or re-sell your ticket to another person. If you plan to travel with a friend, usually the lottery and accomodation plan give you the option to choose the number of people and their names.
-UPDATED 2025/03/06: tickets details have been confirmed for Magical Mirai 2025, please check all the information on the main thread and the official website. This year there are Reserved Seats (SS area + S area combined, available for overseas buyers via ticket lottery and accomodation plan) and Viewing Seats and U-18 seats (available only in Japan).

- How do I get the tickets?
Usually, lottery tickets send you an email with a unique url page having a barcode. You need to print or save that page in your phone, and then show the barcode to the cashier of a convenience store in Japan (most of lottery tickets are for 7-Eleven, but they could be also for Family Mart or Lawson, so please check well the email message you receive).
For the accomodation plan, you can get the plan exclusive goods at the hotel check-in, but for the tickets you need to make a line on the same day of the event, near the entrance there is a table with the organizers staff ready to give your tickets, so please be sure to bring the email confirmation message and also the credit/debit card you used for the accomodation plan payment.

- I see! And how about the Exhibition?
The Exhibition needs a different ticket, which is usually included in the lottery and accomodation plan (but please check the official page once it will be published). It's also possible to buy the Exhibition ticket at the event itself on the same-day, usually the sale starts at 14:00, and I recommend to get in the line 30 minutes before, because the same-day exhibition tickets are limited in numbers.

- Where can I stay during my travel in Japan?
For a short-term stay, especially if you plan to visit different cities, hotel is indeed the best option. Here are good websites to book you hotel stay in Japan:

for a long-term stay (2 weeks ~ 1 month), I recommend to stay in a guest house or apartment, because not only is cheaper compared to a hotel stay, but also you have your own room and can experience what is like living in Tokyo. Guest house gives you private room with bed and desk, and then you have kitchen and bathroom/shower in a common area of the building. Apartment is bit more expensive, but you have kitchen and bathroom included in your own area. Both are great options, it really depends on your budget and if you travel alone or with friends.
My website recommendation for long-term stay is Sakura House agency, I've used it many many times and always have an excellent experience:

- If I stay in Tokyo, how do I get to Sendai or Osaka?
Travelling from Tokyo, I recommend to use the Shinkansen limited express train to get to Sendai or Osaka, because the travel time is only 91 minutes for Sendai (Miyagi JR Station, by Hayabusa Shinkansen express train) and 145 minutes for Osaka (Shin-Osaka JR Station, by Nozomi Shinkansen express train).
My favorite website to plan train-routes is HyperDia:
As a tourist, you can also buy a Japan Rail Pass (important: need to buy it before going to Japan), which gives you options to ride for 7~14~21 days unlimited times on JR lines, included the Shinkansen train (not the Nozomi, so for Osaka you need to ride the Hikari Shinkansen that takes 168 minutes):
There are also good offers of various japanese airlines, both from Tokyo Haneda airport and Tokyo Narita airport to Sendai airport and Kansai (Osaka) airport.

Please take a look at JR East website, Tokyo Metro handy safety guide, Tokyo Metro map, Japan Meteorological Agency, NHK news and learn japanese, the JNTO safety tips and the official Japan Travel guide for many useful resources:

- I can't wait to experience Magical Mirai!!(*/ω\*) What are other things I should be aware of??
Magical Mirai is always a wonderful experience, you are going to have memories that will stay in your heart forever(●'◡'●)❤🎈 And it doesn't matter if you travel alone or with friends, you'll have a great time with all Miku, Luka, Rin, Len, Kaito, Meiko and Vocaloid fans!:miku_ani_lili::luka_lili::rin_smile_lIlI::len_smile_lili::kaito_smile_lili::meiko_lili:
Being held in summer, you can expect hot sunny days for all three locations, but some days there might be a typhoon, it means strong wind and lots of rain. Some trains/airplanes might get delayed or cancelled during a typhoon, so always make good plans in advance and check local news on TV. Thanks to excellent service in Japan, there is peace of mind of making travel plans in advance, knowing that there is always a way to do something.
For the money, is better to exchange some yen before arriving in Japan, and then the rest once arrived in Japan. While most shops accept credit cards, not always those cards work (you should check with your bank), that's why is good to have cash.
Also, I recommend to get a Suica or Pasmo card, you can buy it at most of train stations ticket machines for 500 yen and you can charge it with your yen bills and coins, useful to ride on trains, metro, bus, and even for buying from convenience stores and vending machines.
There are good restaurants and foods shops outside Magical Mirai exhibition, but I really recommend to buy before some snacks and drinks from the convenience stores and vending machines. And a backpack will be very useful during your travel, to easily store your drinks, snacks and goods(●'◡'●)🎁🎈

This is an awesome post! Just a thought, but why not add it to the Resources section? Then it would be its own thing and easier to find/update later.

Venue Predictions:

Osaka and Tokyo: Same venue (Intex and Makuhari are the perfect venues for the entire Mirai event as it can harbor both the exhibition and concert in the same location, not to mention the concert halls are blank slates with no physical limitations imposed by seating or other equipment).

Sendai: Definitely a small concert hall, unless CFM and Tokyo MX finally build up the courage to host a normal sized concert in a sizeable venue. If going for a bigger venue, the only one I can find that can host a small, yet proportionate Mirai is Sendai Xebio Arena. Proportionate because the past two concerts held in concert halls are scaled down, which results in the projections being rendered small, so much so that Miku's standing height is the keyboardist's sitting height.

Love the art and theme!!
Any idea what the song translates too?
ラストラス = rasutorasu = last... rasu? No idea xd

Maybe they bring back classic songs like stargazer or starduster... would fit the theme. Would be lovely!!

I guess I'll make Osaka and Tokyo :)
Flight prices are like twice as last year from Germany 😱

official title for theme song is Lustrous ^-^
(shining, luminous, so it fits well with the main theme "Starry River in the Sky")🌟
i'm so happy for *Luna as producer, I love her songs!!:miku_ani_lili:

about the Sendai special exhibition:
The SENDAI special exhibition will be held at multiple venues around Sendai Station, including E-Beans in front of Sendai Station, Event Hall Matsuei, "Datherium" on the first floor of the JR Sendai East Gate Building, Sendai Sun Plaza Hotel, and Sendai Sun Plaza Hall, making it an exhibition that can be enjoyed as you travel around the city of Sendai (one special exhibition ticket will grant you admission to all exhibition venues on the same day).
and yes yes!! it could be so nice to have some classic songs to fit the theme! I also think about Fireworks of PinocchioP, or Gemini for Rin and Len:len_smile_lili::rin_smile_lIlI:

hope we'll be able to see each other!! xD
with always so many people, it's so difficult hehe
oh in case you're wondering, this year there are Reserved Seats and not SS seats and S seats, I think they did that to offer more tickets during the lottery:meiko_ani_lili:

and for flight tickets, try looking also at ANA airline website (it includes some code-share flights of Lufthansa), they have direct flights from Munich and Frankfurt, and their ticket price is in japanese yen, so because euro is much stronger now than yen, maybe you'll find some cheaper tickets:len_smile_lili:
(I know there is also a new direct flight of ANA from Vienna airport, so if it's cheaper, maybe you could go to Vienna by train, and then take the ANA flight?)
edit: yes from Vienna is cheaper with ANA, I tried searching from August 7 - September 4 and the ticket price is around 1.400EUR, and with ANA (maybe also with Lufthansa) you can use some of your Miles of your account to have a cheaper ticket ^-^

How does getting an SS and S seat work now then? I've heard those were the only seating options offered for foreigners, but if I were to apply now, would there be a chance I won't get an SS or S seat?

basically, the previous SS seats area + S area have been merged into Reserved Seats, so I think that during the lottery tickets you'll just select the live concert day you wish to attend ^-^
In the past, getting a S seat was at higher chance compared to SS seat because most people chose SS seat in the lottery, and now with Reserved Seats maybe there will be more seats available, so that's a good news. The little downside, now with only Reserved Seats you don't know how near or how far you'll be from the stage, but but! I can tell you that any seats is ok, especially in Osaka that has a smaller venue compared to Tokyo, you'll always be able to enjoy the concert, and not knowing the seats until you get the printed ticket gives a little surprise ^-^
also, when you apply during the lottery, the seat is random, is not like "the sooner you apply, the better seat you get". Totally random, same for accomodation plan :meiko_ani_lili:The main difference of accomodation plan (which is hotel stay + ticket) you are guaranteed the ticket, and is still a random seat, but there is a limited number of accomodation plan rooms available, usually get sold-out during the first 30 minutes ^-^
There are 2 rounds of lottery, usually the 2nd round is made to try again on the lottery seat you didn't win during the 1st round. The credit/debit card is charged only in case of win, and you can apply for more concerts, for example first day Tokyo (day concert) and first day Tokyo (evening concert). Talking about chances, the most difficult to get is Tokyo third day (evening concert), and in general, the day concert is a little easier to get. And while it's true Tokyo venue is bigger (so has more seats available), it's also the most chosen, so with Sendai and Osaka probably there will be some better chances to get a winning lottery ticket.

Joining the Miku fandom lol
Proudly 5th month of being a British fan ^-^

I might go to magical mirai 2027, but I'd like to be prepared by looking at magical mirai 2025&2026 😂

The theme and design for this year is so niceee :>

I was just wondering, last year (mm2024), I watched somewhere on miku's official YouTube that the reading they chose the theme was that because they saw a *significant* amount of foreigners coming to mm 2023.

Considering that, there would be more attending the future mms? If so would people have less chance of winning lotto and/or successfully applying for the accommodation plan? Which place would be the best to attending, also considering for a foreigner with 0 Japanese knowledge 😅

How much of a chance do I have of applying for foreigner lotto, and my chances for snatching some accommodation plans?

For accommodation plan, I've heard the website to apply for is very laggy, and all the hotels get filled in quick. I'm gonna practise this year and next to get a taste of how quick they fill. As a heads up, may I know which dates, places, hotels and times I should be applying for if I go one day? Also can you apply for more than one accommodation plan? I wanna go to the Tokyo concerts one day, since it's close to miku's bday ^×^

Since I really want to go to Tokyo more than all the other places, do I still have a chance of getting tickets through foreigner lotto or accommodation?

Also, there's no ss and s seatings, just reserved seatings for this year. This means that we have no idea where we are gonna be put, and how far back we are. How much can you see at the back for this year? Can you still see Miku and the other vocaloids well? And my height is 160cm (short) so idk if I can see even in 2 years time if I go heheHE

Idk if I'm spelling it correctly, but what are gajjin blocks? (Dumb brain hehe)

How much Japanese is required to come to Japan, and to understand some stuff going on at the concerts?

And predictions for setlists this year? (I'm eager when it comes to mm lol)

Sorry for any typo errors, I'm tired rn ;>

Anyway, I'm bad at time zones, so happy Miku day to all of it's today for y'all or tomorrow:D:miku_ani_lili:

hai haiiiii!!! :miku_ani_lili:happy Miku day!!:luka_lili:
it's always so nice to see new fans!! hehe:gumi_lili:

and lots of questions! nice!! let's try to reply to all in order ^-^
Magical Mirai 2027 will be very important, because will be both Magical Mirai 15th Anniversary and Miku 20th Anniversary<3
in terms of foreigners attendance, I think western fans amount has been always similar during these years, but there have been an increase of fans from China. I would say in general there are about 60-75% fans from Japan, about 10% from overseas and the rest from China and other Asian countries.
especially in Tokyo you can see more fans from overseas and Asian countries. So don't worry for lottery tickets and accomodation plan, in fact they merged the SS+S seats into one Reserved Seats map to offer more seats during the lottery. I feel it'll be a little easier, especially if you choose Osaka and a day concert. The accomodation plan you have to be quick, usually is sold-out in the first 30 minutes, but you have more chances by not choosing the less expensive hotel and not the third Tokyo day, that one is always the most chosen one.

the chances depend a lot on the venue too: Sendai (and last year Fukuoka) has about 2.500 seats, Osaka about 4.000 seats and Tokyo about 8.000 seats. But because many fans choose Tokyo (not everybody can attend more than one venue), Sendai and Osaka are easier to get for both lottery and accomodation plan. Sometimes it can be good to also have a mix of two, for example first day of acomodation plan, and the second and third day with lottery. Again, choosing a day concert and not evening concert gives lots more chances.

accomodation plan website was laggy especially on first years, like 2014 and 2015, but then it improved. Yes, it's a good idea to try to see this year how things will go, I always recommend using Firefox on your PC, don't use your smartphone and don't refresh the page too much. I recommend to check the last year accomodation plan website, so you can see the hotel list and how it works:

and yes, you can apply for more than one accomodation plan (example, Tokyo day 1 day concert + evening concert). If you can apply for two or more plans on same hotel, usually they arrange same room for you, but I always recommend to contact the hotel to confirm that ^-^

about the seats location, Fukuoka and Sendai have a theater seat multi-floor, while Osaka and Tokyo have one floor of reserved seats. I can say that any place is good, don't worry. Osaka is better in terms of seats and sound (more bassy, similar to a club), Tokyo is bigger, like double, so is a more "open air" feeling. I'm short too, and one trick I learned that if I have somebody very tall in front of me, is try to move a little on left or right. The stage is taller and can be seen with no problems from any seats.
One good thing of choosing day concert, instead evening concert, there are more families and students attending the day concert, so is more calm, you can enjoy it more and less "risk" of having somebody tall in front of you hehe

gaijin blocks?? mm?? gaijin is (not so good) word for foreigner (better use gaikokujin), but what blocks??

for coming to Japan, I recommend to check the post I wrote earlier:

knowing some japanese can help, but not really required to enjoy Magical Mirai and your stay in Japan, especially in Tokyo or Osaka, since most of signs and announcements are also in english. I recommend to learn some basic words and sentences, the Lonely Planet books are good for that, and even if you can speak only a few words, any japanese person will be happy to help you ^-^
and for the songs, probably some will be themed around summer festival of fireworks and starry sky, and I'm really looking forward to *Luna theme song, because her songs are always sooooo good🌟🌠🎀

Tysm!! :D :meiko_lili:
*Luna's songs are bangers so I'm excited to see her new song! :miku_ani_lili:

Gaikokujin (sorry 😅) blocks- may just be my imagination lol oopsie! Ignore that question lol must be smth else unrelated to mm '-_-

About the locations for the concerts, I prefer Tokyo since it's closer to miku's bday. Idm if I go to Osaka or the third location in 2027 (if there is), but how hard is it to successfully get tickets to Tokyo? And what is the success rate to win lotto for each place? And how much of a bigger chance do you have by applying for day concerts? :>

And also I'd be dragging my family along (my lil bro, and parents) to Japan. So it's only going to be one of my parents taking me to mm (I don't wanna be alone hehe), and the other 2 explore Japan. For accommodation, last year I'm pretty sure was max of two people for one room (correct me if I'm wrong)? If I get my plans, should I book in for the same hotel for the other two separately on the hotel's website (they aren't gonna attend mm btw)? And if I can, can I make sure the two rooms are next to eachother, or is this not possible? Sorry if this sounds confusing; ask for me to clarify if needed. I'm bad at explaining stuff -_-'

Thanks for the tip for moving left or right ^-^
How big is miku in the venues? I don't wanna just stare at a tiny turquoise dot at the concert lol :miku_lili:

About learning Japanese, miku's speeches are gonna be in Japanese right? I wanna know what she says if I go, so do you recommend for me to learn a bit?

And any rules and respectful actions while in Japan?:luka_lili:
The setlists each year are always so good and the theme songs, so no doubt mm 25 will be amazing. :rin_smile_lIlI::len_smile_lili:
They might play Star Fragment or Stargazer maybe- they could bring back old songs like they did last year with Letter Song and When First Love Ends!! That'll be so cool >_<
And all the virtual singers appearing at the concert will probably sing altogether at one point :kaito_smile_lili:

Sorry for the massive amount of questions, I get excited when it comes to my idol!!!
Miku day today for me! So exciting hehe :miku_lili:
Thank you! ^×^

hehe you're welcome ^-^

for the Tokyo ticket lottery (and accomodation plan too), as I said the most chosen is day 3 evening concert, but also day 1 evening. Usually choosing a day concert instead of evening concert gives you much much more chances of getting the ticket. It's all about luck and number of people choosing that concert. To apply you need to enter your credit card details, so it is automatically charged in case of winning, so as long as you have enough funds in your card, you can apply for the concert you want ^-^
Osaka is for sure easier compared to Tokyo, and for Tokyo maybe the easier to get is day 2 day concert ^-^

for the hotel accomodation plan, yes each time you apply (for example plan A, plan B, etc...) you choose 1 x person or 2 x people (and write the names of both). For the other family members, it's better you make reservation using the hotel official website (or any other reservation website), only after you've successfully paid the accomodation plan. After that, I think you should contact both the hotel and the ticket travel agency (there is email to contact them) explaining if it's possible to have 2 rooms near or same floor. It should be possible, especially if you manage to book same type of room (for example, Twin Room no smoking).

as for the stage, don't worry ^-^ even though Tokyo venue is big, the stage setup is made that everybody can enjoy the concert from any seat. And yes yes, learning some basics words and sentences will help a bit to understand ^^ you can watch some slice-of-life or school anime with subtitles to get used to some words, or buy some phrasebooks, again the Lonely Planet guide of Japan is really what I recommend, it'll be useful for all the trip too!
in Japan, there is lots of care about the others surrounding you, so for example in the train is better to not speak loudly, always respect the waiting lines and whenever you have to ask something, is better to have some text or pictures on paper or on your phone. Also, trash bins are rare on the street, you can find them in the parks, near or inside the convenience stores or the vending machines. Most restaurants have pictures in their menu, so is easy to order. The convenience stores Family Mart, Lawson and 7 eleven are open 24/24h and you can buy any kind of foods, drinks, snacks, magazines, even print photos and microwave food and use the hot water for instant noodles. Also, convenience store is the place to print the ticket lottery, you just show the winning receipt (it has a barcode) to the cashier and they'll give you the printed ticket ^^
Another thing: don't tip in Japan, but if for example you had a very nice stay in your hotel, you can leave a nice handwritten message thanking them or give to the hotel staff as a present a souvenir food or item from your country or from another city you've visited in Japan during your stay (there are lots of souvenir foods in each train station) ^-^

you'll surely enjoy a lot during all the stay ^u^
this the Lonely Planet guide I really recommend (you can find it on amazon and any book shop), and also planning map and phrasebook:

that's a pleasure!! ^u^
ah another thing! near Tokyo Makuhari Messe venue (which is in Chiba city) there is Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea parks, so if you and your family plan to visit, be sure to visit during the week and not weekend, you'll enjoy more ^-^
and Tokyo Metro map website, very useful:
