VY1V4 (owned): especially Power is really good. Slices through the mix like a really sharp knife.
Miku V4X (owned): Underrated metalcore Vocaloid. When she needs to she can cut through real well.
Miku V4 English (owned): Again, underrated metalcore Vocaloid. Pronunciation's a bit quirky, but her speed is seriously underrated.
Megpoid: Again, Power especially. If I get to buy her I might not go for any other ones.
V4 Flower (owned): Many people hate her, and some of the talk stuff can sound real bad, but I'm a metal producer, so what do you expect?
IA ROCKS (owned): Another underrated metalcore Vocaloid. Not as good on the thrashy parts but still pretty punchy and dope.
Anon and Kanon (owned): I know of one circle who never use these two on anything but the backing vocals. Very underrated on the leads (both).

Oliver: He's quite soft, but his range and pronunciation are really good. I hope to get him one day.
Merli: A deeper vocal, usually I'm not into that, but her cut-through ability is something worth considering for me.
Piko: His range is D-O-P-E and I've listened to some songs that featured him. Might give him a shot if I get the chance.
Komachi: One of the softer loids but with a bit more compression she seems viable.

Dex: He sounds just like your typical voice synthesizer. Nuff said.
Cyber Songman: Same deal as Dex.
Cyber Diva: Female equivalent of Dex almost. If it weren't for her speed she would've been total trash.
Gachapoid: Just... WHY...
Fukase: Again same deal as Dex, although the severity is just a bit less obvious but obvious all the same.
Leon/Tonio: Similar deal as Dex, but the unnatural transitions are even worse, especially on Tonio*.
Gackpoid: Same deal as Leon/Tonio, almost to the point of "what were they thinking" territory.
Kaito: Again similar deal as Dex, albeit in Japanese. Also, the VP sounds way older than what the character looks like.
YOHIOloid: Again similar deal as Dex, albeit not to the extent of Fukase or Dex himself. Might give him a chance later on.
Mayu: She was used in some rock tracks, which is really surprising, but what's not surprising is that they never turned out great.
Yukari: Just like Mayu, she's just way too soft to be capable of anything at all.
Zunko: Same deal as Yukari and Mayu.
SF-A2 Miki: Could've been a good Vocaloid, had it not been for her speed (or lack thereof).
Macne Nana English: Could've been a must-buy, had it not been for her bad pronunciation.
Ruby: Exact same deal as Macne Nana English.
Avanna (owned): Her pronunciation isn't that bad, and her range is decent, but she's a compression sponge**. Often she's a lost cause.


* I mean, come on, he's supposed to be an orchestra tenor, he's supposed to sound natural and that's why he's a complete flop.
** Her voice will NOT be any louder, even with all that compression. Unless it's EDM or folk, if you get her to cut through, it's a miracle.

@WintermintP You're being pretty unfair to a lot of vocals just because they don't work well in one particular genre. Of course you have trouble with Avanna, you're using her for metal.

EDIT: I'd also point out that Oliver is like Avanna but worse in that regard from what I've heard.

@DefiantKitsune Unfair I may be, but I wasn't really complaining because they don't work well in one particular genre. I was complaining because they don't work well in half the existing genres. It's not just rock, and it's not just metal, although there are many rock and metal genres so I wouldn't call it fair to say it's one or two genres... but still, it's not just those two umbrella genres. You have big band, some electronica genres, some blues genres... it's not about the fact that they don't cut through in rock, because there are a lot of other genres, some that don't even use guitars, that have just as much intensity and loudness. Also, my main complaint had to do with mostly the transitions and pronunciations more so than Vocaloids not cutting through, although there were a number of them that don't really cut through all that well (again, though, it's not just rock or metal).

I should note in addition that I did say that if you get her to cut through it's a miracle, and by that I meant that it's not impossible. I've actually done it a few times, most notably in "Summer Breeze." It just takes a lot of effort to get her loud enough to cut through.

EDIT: Even some of the pop tracks have just as many layers as a typical metal track if not more (even without guitars), to the point the vocals have to push hard all the same. Modern folk rock, even without any electric guitars involved, has this exact same problem.

TL;DR: Other genres besides rock and metal can have just as many layers and can bring on just as much loudness and intensity, and therefore can require just as much power on the vocals. Rock and metal are just more known for that, but other genres can require just as much strength on the vocals.
