CeVIO IA English Thoughts/Opinions?

Okay, after listening to a bunch of covers I've formed a more conclusive opinion on her.

Cons:
• After a while Cevio's engine noise really started to grate, she has a buzzy roughness that wasn't present in the Vocaloid version. I'll admit, when I switched from a Cevio song to a Vocaloid song my ears practically breathed a sigh of relief. It's one of those little things that isn't a big deal at first but wears you down over time.

• Her enunciation isn't great, I often can't make what she is singing.

Pros:
• Despite her enunciation issues, she sounds more natural than clearer synths like Cyva. Perhaps in part due to the way her words slur together, she is quite human and emotive. She can pull off a punchy chorus with clarity and emotion.

• The engine noise is reduced significantly in certain songs. I'm not sure if this is due to tuning, or whether the noise is strongest in a certain range..
So if I understand what you're saying, mixing and possibly what genre the song is could make a world of difference when using the voicebank. The buzziness wouldn't be that apparent if say she was used in a electronic or rock song but it could cause issues if she was used in a acoustic song or a piano ballad.

I noticed that when I been listening to songs that uses ONE lately. The engine noise didn't show up that much in a song like Mirai by ATOLS and hard rock songs, but the noise shown up big time in ballads.

That being said i'm curious to how IA Eng C would sound like in covers from Garbage, Tonight Alive and Paramore's earlier material which could use the aggressiveness of the bank and engine to it's max.

She definitely requires a little love, but her tone does not sound flat like other English vocals. I'm wondering what they plan to do with her at all they western (but mostly American) concerts first place announced.

I started listening to her today and she's good. She's so good. I love her so much. But unfortunately, the cevio engine noise is definitely there and it takes a way a little bit.
If she was a Vocaloid I'd buy her, but I'm not interested in learning/buying any new voice synths right now so I'll have to pass. But I'll definitely be listening to her because she sounds great.

IA English C - Outer Science (WiP/Test) - Clyp
Tragedy ridden, never fit in, and dead now
A life gone so quickly, would it knock at the door?
Fidgeting itty bitty master watches “Oh what an ugly tale”

Sprawling and crawling down the body and throat
Melting away the decaying and beaten down heart
Drink in and sink in every bit of your life
I’m hungry for your eyes

Hey, it’s all that you had wanted and more
And then you stared a scary glare into my core

A bleeding tragic heart before me and I’m starving

You’re in the belly of the beast
Love and your ego rest in peace
And the “weird” little you, will soon then be born anew
Just a monster by now I am loving it I cant deny but

Crying to god you scream out “Why?”
“Stop this already” you just whine
Will you suck it up now? This fate cannot be unwound

Succeeding, succeeding, succeeding, boss-to-be, can’t wait to meet

I did like very minimal tuning/phonetic editing whilst trying to adjust to CeVIO's English VB interface. (This is Natural 1.0.0, will probably change to 0.9.0 and use Powerful on the choruses.)

Overall it's super fun and her voice is great. It has CeVIO's usual oddness with long notes and the English input for words is very picky with multiple syllable words and some don't seem to by default use the correct phonetics (or maybe it does and it's just American English and that's usually weird anyway so). But most of it is easily fixed by manually changing phonetics so it's not like it's impossible to fix, and any other issues I had were fixed in the most recent update to the software. Except I feel her [g] phonetic is a bit weird but editing the timing fixes that for the most part.

Overall I'm suuuper happy with my purchase and can't wait to get used to using her more. It's just gonna take a bit of getting used to just like any other new synth. I'm hoping in future major CeVIO and IA English updates some things are streamlined a bit better and use fan feedback.

The hype from the demos was totally spot on she's probably my favourite English VB on any engine (sorry Sonika).

Okay so I know what the beta versions are, but how do I use them? I installed both the normal voice-bank and the beta voice-banks but there are still only natural and powerful available to choose from in Cevio still.

Open the options (it's under ツール in the top menu) and go to the third tab (ソング設定). At the bottom right there's a button labeled ボイスのバージオン that'll let you select which version you want to use.

(I think this is right I just found it super recently myself and I haven't played with it much sjfl)

That shelter cover is so gorgeous. I felt like something about her sounded really harsh in the Bad Apple cover, though.

The website now says that IA ENGLISH C will be available for purchase from Rakuten Books on 7/13. Does that mean a physical version will be available?

That's what I'm hoping for! As far as I'm aware, Rakuten doesn't sell digital copies if things...but I could be wrong

Hopefully if it's a physical version, there'll be standalone and starter options, which I don't see why not when ONE's like that boxed.

Hoping that'd make her easier to buy in the West, never used Rakuten but heard about it a lot. But they do really need to pur her on an English site/market if they want her to sell good...

It's stated to be a digital version specifically, I believe. I don't think it makes much difference between Vector and Rakuten in terms of ease of purchase, either - it's just that Vector was allowed to sell her earlier than anywhere else.

I also don't like where this is going. Even now most people who use her are english people despite the barriers so it's easy to tell where they should market and sell her

Shame for still no box.

But I really am on the fence buying her just because she's on a Japanese site and I always get scared to mess up. At least if she had a box, I could get a forwarding service to do it. But like...I really want her to do well both for herself and CeVIO. That's not gonna happen where she's being sold.
Like I think she is the only English VB being sold this way and it's gonna kill her someday. Some fan or even professional producer who doesn't do this often or at all would probably end up going for Miku English or Avanna simply for the ease of buying. 1st Place really needs to put her somewhere like BFA, or at least open their own English shop...

1st Place does have an official English store, and has for a while. They've not sold any VBs on there yet, however, only CDs and KagePro/IA/ONE merchandise.
I could see them selling a physical here, or even digital. I can understand them maybe taking a while to make sure any major bugs are patched out before finally releasing her to a more accessible place overseas.

Like on release there was already some odd bugs they had to quick fix out of the engine. If there's any upcoming overseas IA events, maybe they plan to officially start promoting her overseas that way. Though last I heard was she was in France last month in June. I don't know of any more currently announced overseas events. I trust 1st Place enough since they're usually very active in promoting IA and ONE so a delay must be happening for some actual reason.

It just seems very weird marketing to me. Even their IA English tutorial (or ONE teaches IA to use CeVIO) was...in Japanese. Even with subtitles doesn't make it any better. It looks like they are genuinely trying to promote her, just to the wrong market.

The biggest easin I feel they'll do a ohysical version is because I know they sell IA's VBs at cons. They can't go to a con and show her off then say "you can go to this Japanese only site to buy her"...I doubt even half an audience would go through the triuble, even as accepting of Japanese sites as our community is.

I really, really want everything IA to do well, given she's on my top 3 but...they already fell behind becaude people reacted to the wngine change and sound change likely worse than they reacted to IA Talk (who most IA fans seem to dislike or forget about)...the marketing for her is just super confusing, even if they plan to move her to English sites once her bugs are all fixed up

If I'm not misreading, they'll be releasing the song "Higher" on the 8th August. It'll be available on purchase on the usual places along with being available on Spotify too. I'm really excited for this song to come out in full 'cos I wanna listen to it, aha.
