If there's a weird spam message, I @ one of the Discord VocaVerse mods who are online (there's usually at least 3 online, but sometimes all but one are busy). I think usually the spam gets noticed within 5~20 min if a mod isn't active, but deleted within a minute or two after a mod sees it. I'd say the amount of spam seems to have increased slightly this week specifically compared to what I've noticed the past.

It doesn't bother me really, I've just seen that spam pretty much daily on vocaverse for the past week or so. On the other hand I've seen a mod online for maybe once during the same period of time, so I was just wondering if the amount of spam increased or are the mods less active. I used to be a mod on a big forum years ago and I remember the spam sometimes coming in like waves, one day I would delete 10+ spam posts (bot accounts) like these we've seen here, a week later I'd have to remove just two in a week at most. Here it's thankfully been just a few spam posts per day, so nothing serious.

I was gonna make my own post about the spam, but I don't see it as often as some people because I don't hang around here on average for super long. Is there no bot check or two-factor authentication for account creation on here?

@Blue Of Mind: There was 2-factor authentication early on, but it was turned off pretty quickly. I don't really know the reason why for sure--I didn't have any issues myself, but I think some people were having issues with it/not being able to log in. I don't remember if there was a captcha when I signed up or not. I'm (fairly?) sure there was email verification, though.
Seems like other people might be seeing more spam than I do. I usually report these kinds of threads when I see them (with the little report links), but I've only noticed them on the order of maybe once per week or two recently, I think, and much less frequently in the past.

I mean, when I made an account on another site, I was greeted within about 2 seconds by a user whose avatar was a scantily-dressed woman who said my blank profile seemed really interesting. Doesn't every site HOPE that they get blessed with bot visitors? ;)(I mean, I guess that might've been flattering if I wasn't damn sure it was a bot, probably offering a doorway to viruses and all....)
Being serious, these do seem to be getting more frequent here. I wonder what could be done to keep them out? The 2-factor authentication we had for the first week or two might be an option, if the issue is serious enough and provided it works better for people now; otherwise some other way to keep bots from forming accounts would need to be found, I guess. This'll be a tricky issue for the mods/admins.
