“Japanese and English voice banks for Hatsune Miku V6 that are compatible with VOCALOID7” is such strange wording cause V6 banks are already compatible by default as confirmed by Yamaha.

Full hopium but I hope it turns out to be a proper Miku V7 release. One of the biggest drawbacks of V6 vs V4X is all her missing appends so this would be the best opportunity to bring em all back. I’m hoping her Soft bank might’ve been a hint that this may have been part of their plans… also it’s miku’s 20th next year so no better time really

Very good news that every Miku V6 will get a free upgrade tho and helps soften the blow of V7 happening so soon after her release.

I'm also hoping this may lead to a V7 version - from what I've heard of Gumi V7 so far, the new engine is a massive improvement from V6, being a happy medium between the old school "Vocaloid" sound and the realism of SynthV. Miku V6's main issue is how buzzy she sounds, because of the V6 engine (though it can be fixed).

The rest of Miku's old appends, and Miku Chinese in general, are still missing in modern versions of Vocaloid. The rest of the Cryptonloids are also still missing (though V7 still supports every bank between V3 and V6, apparently). I'm placing my bets on either the Kagamines or Luka to get V7 ports next, based on what Crypton have posted in the past.

Interestingly ambiguous...Yamaha's announcement indicates that the V7 editor will support all V6 (as well as V4 and other prior non-ML voice banks). That doesn't make sense, then, for Crypton to have to wait until early 2027 for a new version of Miku V6.

I would certainly not rule out that being an update specifically targeting the V7 engine. Especially since we're reading translations of a press release.

From the wording of the press release on Sonicwire blog (it's vague, but they said more details later in the next weeks), it seems like they are planning an updated/patched version of Miku V6 fully compatible with Vocaloid 7 features, or at least having less engine noise and some extra tuning, together with the release of the Chinese voicebank (first half of 2027, I think around January-March). Think of that like a Miku Vocaloid6 ver.2 release made for Vocaloid7.
A new Miku V7 will 99% be made, with new artwork design too, but I think it'll take some time. Before that, they need to release Luka (also Luka NT2), Rin, Len, Meiko and Kaito.
Crypton staff surely were aware of Yamaha plans for Vocaloid7, so it might explain why they gave many hints about the other Piapro Characters but still no official announcement.
I think current Crypton plan is:
- October/November: official announcement of Luka NT2 and Luka Vocaloid7
(recently Piapro Studio NT2 got an important update of version with many new features and improvements, some of which feel made for Luka)
- December: announcement of Rin/Len Vocaloid 7
- early 2027: release Miku V6 Chinese (free update) and updated version compatible with Vocaloid7 with some extra tuning and features;
- spring 2027: Meiko and Kaito NT2 and Vocaloid 7, or also an updated Piapro Super Pack made for Vocaloid7
- August 2027: announcement of Miku Vocaloid7, with Early Access version and planned release during her 20th Anniversary year (so, think around spring 2028).
Here was the Vocaloid exhibition at Yamaha headquarters during Magical Mirai 2026, with Luka life-size panel:luka_lili:

I hope so but this sounds a little bit too optimistic.

I personally feel like CFM will prioritize Miku V6 porting to V7 first before all other character voicebank releases.

And I don't think that all Cryptonloids could be released in 2027 for both NT2 and V6/V7 (it might take maybe 2-3 years or even as long as 4-5 years to progressively release all Cryptonloids), we can hope but I don't think this is the case.

And finally, no promise from CFM regarding Hatsune Miku V7. The title of this thread is misleading.

Yes maybe too optimistic, especially when we talk about software development, so any delay can happen ay any time, but I feel that at this point, with Vocaloid7 announced and NT2 engine very good in terms of features, it might be time for Crypton to talk about the other Piapro Characters.
Regarding Miku V7, I apologize that the thread title might be a little misleading, but I felt it was better to split the Miku V6 thread into this, there was already so much confusion. Crypton has said that in the next weeks they'll talk in details on Sonicwire blog about their plans for the update. Probably they'll share more details after November 11, when Gumi V7 arrives and Vocaloid7 is available.:gumi_lili:
About the timing of release for all the characters, I remember one interview of Wataru Sasaki of Crypton, I think it was an interview made between Miku NT2 and Miku V6 release, he said that the development (of NT2 engine) is now progressing smoothly and faster. And in an interview about Miku V6, Sasaki-san and Crypton CEO hinted that the next character getting Vocaloid updated voicebank is good at English :luka_lili:
