Shao Ling is a nice name though. :( Though, maybe it'd look better if it were Zhao Ling or Zhl for the letterloids?
Looking through the letter voicebanks, this does seem to be the case as both SH (Sheena) and SL (Sylvia) are taken. The only other letter combo I can think of that would fit is SG, but that admittedly doesn't look very good.I don't think Shao Ling was anything special/a move towards using three letters for good. They just... decided to use a name that already shared letters with Sylva and I guess. Didn't care to think of anything else that didnt conflict??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you for the comment, I literally forgot that these languages are supported because DT hasn't released any vbs for them.EDIT: I forgot to add my usual complaint. I am once again asking DT to PLEASE make at least 1 or 2 banks in the other official languages. Spanish and Korean are starving here
Didn't Korean get two letter voicebanks? They have Nea and Toi.Thank you for the comment, I literally forgot that these languages are supported because DT hasn't released any vbs for them.
I always forget they did that. Still want more. And Spanish pleeease DT pretty pleaseDidn't Korean get two letter voicebanks? They have Nea and Toi.
We have GALENAIA and SAROS for Spanish, they're just not letter banks and ig that also eclipsed sounds but they DO exist we do have a couple Spanish banks.Huan Zhang, Shao Ling, and Nanami are all pleasant and sound high quality, but didn't tick any specific boxes for me
I adore Rochelle's tone. She's really mellow when she's soft, and warm when she's powerful. Very nice. And Kohki is absolutely gonna gain a fanbase. All the comments on his demo are already calling him Yuma's brother or the return of Piko
The terrible design of the letters is just a funny thing to me at this point. Never change, DT... OTL
EDIT: I forgot to add my usual complaint. I am once again asking DT to PLEASE make at least 1 or 2 banks in the other official languages. Spanish and Korean are starving here
We do, but GALENAIA is designed for opera and even her non-operatic vocal modes still retain a little bit of that operatic sound, and SAROS apparently has a decently strong American accent that native Spanish speakers don't like, so some letterloids with native Spanish VPs and neutral tones would be much appreciated. We have GALENAIA and SAROS for Spanish, they're just not letter banks and ig that also eclipsed sounds but they DO exist we do have a couple Spanish banks.
True. Well, then let's hope for better Spanish banks thenWe do, but GALENAIA is designed for opera and even her non-operatic vocal modes still retain a little bit of that operatic sound, and SAROS apparently has a decently strong American accent that native Spanish speakers don't like, so some letterloids with native Spanish VPs and neutral tones would be much appreciated.
I love and own them both!! I just wish DT would make some, give us some more optionsWe have GALENAIA and SAROS for Spanish, they're just not letter banks and ig that also eclipsed sounds but they DO exist we do have a couple Spanish banks.
Okay, wow. Italian support I feel is great for GALENAIA due to a lot of opera being in Italian, but even besides that that's a nice addition. Overhauling the phoneme system...? What does that mean? I guess I'll see when I get home and install this beta. Vocal fry has been asked for ever since it was taken out before the Studio era, so that's a very welcome addition. Language-Specific phonemes are probably the British English phonemes, but other languages might have something similar for dialects or such. Up/Down semitones, finally! I got so used to doing that in OpenUTAU that it felt strange not being able to do it in SynthV, so nice to see that. Real time spellcheck for phonemes is useful, I guess.
- Overhauled the phoneme system: simplified/X-SAMPA switch, new vocal fry phoneme, and language-specific phoneme additions.
- Added cross-lingual synthesis support for Italian.
- Added a new settings option to synchronize parameters with note movement.
- Added key shortcuts (default: up/down arrow keys) to move selected notes up/down by 1 semitone.
- Added real-time phoneme spell checking to the phoneme input box above notes.
It's like Vocaloid! This'll make English VSQx files need much less work to convert to SVPs, since you won't need to manually correct all the lyrics that are multiple syllables. Nice! And they posted a complete phoneme list, so that'll make working on other languages much easier. It includes French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Italian phonemes, too.Aside from phoneme-related changes, version 2.3.0b1 also enhances lyrics-to-phonemes conversion. For non-CJK languages (e.g., English, Spanish, …), a hyphen at the beginning or end of a note is accepted as a syllable breaking indicator, in addition to the existing “+” mark supported since the beginning of Synthesizer V.
Italian, huh, well, that's good. But, can we get a French voicebank?SV2 has a new beta released! The phoneme system has been overhauled, with 150 phonemes now available across all languages, X-SAMPA support, phonemes for a British English accent, a dedicated vocal fry phoneme and Italian crosslingual.
The following are changes since 2.3.0tp1.

I think the main reason only Dreamtonics vbs can use them atm is because the vbs require to be updated to the latest version of the engine's model to be able to make use of the new features. Dreamtonics can easily update their own banks as soon as they make changes during beta, but they wouldn't want to ask third parties to update all their vbs for every single beta change, so they likely are just waiting for the stable release for third parties to updateWoah woah woah woah. What? Huh? Where did that come from? More language phonemes? Vocal fry?! X-Sampa?! British English?! Italian?!?! Oh my god, that's a huge update! I was not expecting another language so soon after the announcement of the previous three, let alone all of these new features and improvements.

All in all, this is super impressive and I can't wait to play with it when I get home. Dreamtonics really is stepping up their game! Although, only Dreamtonics voicebanks being able to use these new features is a bit of a shame. I was hoping to test out the new English functions with SAROS, but I guess I'm stuck with using Mo Xu. And all these new languages at once is kind of overwhelming. We literally just got our first Korean Dreamtonics voicebanks and it's been over a year since SynthV2 introduced the language with its release, so it's bound to be at least two years before we get a native bank for any of these newly introduced languages. But I'm still super stoked for this, and very happy for all the other fans who have wanted use these new languages and features for a long time.
