That actually confirms that SynthV 2 will not have a fully free version like synthv did. As it's closer to the way VOCALOID 6 Lite works. It's a limited editor only bundled with voice purchases. So at the minimum you would need to buy a voice. I don't know if they'll keep releasing lite voices as well
i was trying to understand if that is what it meant by "feature-limited version that comes with all voice purchases" which would make sense, yeah. tbh some of the wording on their pages have confused me a bit on initial reads and felt a bit unclear... @_@

do you mean like a free version?

tbh its not totally clear to me but i think so? but differently? on the purchase page it mentions a "pro version" and "feature limited version"

Synthesizer V is available in two editions: the Pro edition (this product) and a feature-limited version that comes with all voice purchases.
and
While having limitations on the number of tracks and features included, the feature-limited version is good for first-time users as a learning platform, or anyone who would like to try out Synthesizer V or any of the voices before making a purchase decision.

knowing how the current "feature limited" voices have worked, those ones could be used but only render a fixed length sample on export. limited tracks are mentioned, and features too. makes me think they will function like current "lite" banks, which lack vocal modes and cross language. and possibly not allow long exported renders. (there are easy ways around that however... so i wonder if track length itself could be limited). hopefully we will know more once this feature limited version has a page and download available.

and also, i as i understand SV1 pro and basic will still be functioning after SV2 comes out, but they state you will be unable to purchase SV1 (and i would assume download SV1 basic) after SV2 releases.

The free trial with no Time limit. It's called Synthesizer V Basic.

I think at this point we'll maybe just have to wait and see. They may give us some more info too, before release. But the SV1 basic version should still work fine for users who want to try before they buy, I would assume.

The Yumenokessho website for the new synthv 2 vbs has a table of comparison between synthv pro 1 and 2 and it also lists the limitation of the bundled free v of synthesizer v 2 !

So the limited v of synthv 2 can only have one track, and it seems it can't even be tuned since it has no parameter panel. It however supports cross language and vst

is there any clarification on commercial usage for featured limited stuff? i assume buying the vb will mean you can use it for commercial purposes, as you do in SV1 even with the basic free version. but tbh im not surprised theyd limit it so much (i mean, its in the name lol...). previously, lite voicebanks had limits on usage, mainly that they could not be used for commercial use. but being able to have a free lite bank that basically just couldnt do cross language or have vocal modes but otherwise 100% usable on free basic version (i know they say the quality of them is lower but, i think the average person would never notice), it was way way too easy to just... get away with using them as if they were full versions by just never saying it. people could easily profit on them without paying a dime.

i think it makes sense for them to let people buy the voicebank instead of the program if they want, when the other way around it i think caused less profit (you buy a program once but you buy many voices) and made it easy to get away with never paying for anything. at least (i assume bc this was the case with SV1) when buying a voice and getting feature limited version, the person is able to use it legally for commercial use... but of course, dreamtonics' new method is made to push people to wanting the engine as well, because they cant do more specific stuff with it

this isnt me saying any of this is "good" but this was my thought process on "why"

not sure if the email linking this just came really late for me, as i see comments from 12 hours ago (?), but this was an unlisted video from Dreamtonics comparing SV1 and SV2 voices.

tbh i feel like thoughts on this is just gonna be so subjective, because i dont totally agree with the comments saying it sounds worse or doesnt sound different... i can hear flaws in places, no doubt. but perhaps i am more focused on how the tools provided in SV2 (the new vocal mode stuff mainly) just brings way more depth that feels way better than what SV1 was doing, despite any potential flaws/bugs to be improved on. we've seen Dreamtonics improve the engine and noise over time with SV1 so i dont doubt we will continue to see tweaks after initial release that make more quality improvements. i just dont really hear anything in these comparisons that was making me think "wow they sound low quality now, i dont want to use them in SV2", personally. they sound fine, just different, which is to be expected with whatever new engine changes theyve made.

will say, i think out of those three Felicia sounded the best in improvement and i kinda wonder if the age of these vocals kind of effect how much better theyre sounding, and why some may not sound like a huge boost to SV2. like, if they were made way early on they probably didnt utilize whatever new or improved methods of making a voice bank that say, Felicia had due to being very recent? but thats just a theory.

for a more 1:1 comparison I'd suggest checking out the product pages!

Most of them sound cleaner and more dynamic, and the auto-pitch actually sounds decent. There are some exceptions (like Saki) where the recording environment/equipment probably wasn't amazing, but the improvements are there nonetheless!

Obsessed with the amount of nuanced changes you're able to make now with regards to vocal modes and parameters. Having an openness parameter with the ability to further adjust pronunciation with vocal modes is something I've yearned for.

i noticed too. was always a bit conflicted on how cross language could sound and while i know some ppl may not want to hear an accent, i do think on some voices it sort of made them sound... less like themself/lost character/like the language was more "faked". though hopefully some will still remain understandable enough. (not a dreamtonics voice, but i still have an impossibly hard time understanding teto... so would prefer to not have that scenario)
