Looks to be someone from Voicevox. Kind of illustrates the point from my last post where we either get Vtubers or characters from other engines with the Fan-ding camapaigns

That being said, I don't really see what makes a Vtuber bank inherently less interesting than an original character. If they have a unique voice or fun voice, why would it matter that they were originally a Vtuber? KAFU probably being the best example of this (setting aside the issues with KAF's feelings about KAFU being too close to her voice - bringing it up preemptively, but ultimately not relevant to the topic). It's not like every non-Vtuber voicebank that releases is super unique either.
Exactly, is just easier for Yamaha to choose a Vtuber because they already have all needed data (number of subscribers, public comments, active users supporting them..) for starting a crowdfunding in a "safe" way.
For example, if a Vtuber has 100k subscribers, Yamaha probably thinks that 1k or 2k of them might be happy to support the crowdfunding. Some UTAU characters are surely popular, but is more difficult to understand how many dedicated fans are there.

i mean, kafu was a new character _based on_ kaf, more akin to how gakupo and yohioloid are based on their vp. a lot of the other vtuber banks just straight up slap the vtuber themself on the voicebank, it's not quite the same thing imo
I still don't really see how this makes them inherently less interesting though - unless you're primarily here for the character aspect, which I can understand. But that has nothing to do with the voice which I would assume most people consider the most important aspect; a Vtuber synth's design, whether it's the Vtuber themselves or a separate design from the original (which is all that really comes down to unless they go out of their way to make it a separate character, which does indeed apply to KAFU/KAF), has little bearing on that.
Please note that I'm not trying to seriously argue about it or anything, I'm just genuinely trying to understand why the word "Vtuber" automatically has some people immediately writing them off. They aren't any different from any other commercial release, personally.
New Fan-ding projects have been revealed! Yogatari Tobari (formally an A.I. VOICE and Neutrino) and Mitama Akasuki (formally VOICEVOX). Mitama Akasuki isn't a separate crowdfunding campaign, but rather a stretch goal as part of Tobari's campaign.
I'm happy to see Tobari get a voicebank, as I feel like it's been 500 years since I saw an adult woman in one of these announcements.

Oh I am so hyped for Tobari I just looked her up but I love a mature female voicebank ;-; we get them so infrequently and her vocal tone is also rather unique in a voicetype that tends to skew to a more soft tone

I thought the same thing lol….Regarding the discussion about why some people are less interested in vtuber vocals from before, my two cents is that I personally just have no interest in vtubers and so whenever I see a vtuber vsynth I am automatically less interested. Is it a fair judgment? Probably not. But is it how I feel? Yeah.
As for Tobari, she looks gorgeous! I am excited for her.
