I randomly stumbled across this news after a Miku eBooks account made a retweet from the Anime Matsuri account. There was zero mentions about this from any of the official 1st Place and IA social media accounts. What is going on over there?

This is really ecciting and I am really, really hoping I get the oppurtunity to go. Though it depends on the convention itself by this point, I don’t really wanna go solely for IA...

I imagine the convention just announced before 1st Place planned to. That’s the reason I’m going with at least.

I looked back on the AM twitter and saw they announced the concert a day before Christmas.

I'm surprised 1st Place is going to have their show at AM seeing how I heard many folks in the vocaloid community having issue with the con's CEO

I must ask, what's the issue with the CEO for this con? I'm not from the US and I don't really follow the US con scene.

Crap...well that totally sucks. No wonder Vocaloid fans have issues with him.

I'm a big fan of Tyler (ScarfingScarves), the girl who reported on John Leigh and almost got her channel taken down by him to silence her and the victims. He's notorious for preying on under-aged girls in the lolita fashion community, and even his wife knows about his creepy antics and basically blames the victims for not speaking up, even though they tried to speak to her. The drama basically started when another, bigger lolita YouTuber (Cathy Cat, who also works for Ask Japanese) had done a clothes collab with John and lolitas got angry that she would support him (one of the excuses for him trying to take down Tyler's channel was that Cathy Cat was getting flack), which caused ScarfingScarves to do an exposé video on him with screenshots from victims and also roasted him to oblivion with her usual sarcastic jabs.

Tyler recently posted a MVPs list for the end of 2018 and thanked viewers for supporting her when her channel was in danger. She broke character and revealed how emotional it was for her (basically a living nightmare of being unable to eat/sleep properly due to the legal stuff) and she even framed the cease and desist letter from him and put it on her nightstand.

If you go to Anime Matsuri to see the concert, be careful who you give your contact information to, especially if you're underage and/or a lolita.

I assume that 1st Place doesn't know about the controversy about Anime Matsuri, but they probably want to get exposure from a huge convention. Part of me feels very disappointed that he continues to be able to run that con and I almost feel like writing a complaint letter to 1st Place, but so many other companies and personalities go there, so it's not like I can complain to everyone.

@Exemplar @uncreepy Wooow... I'm surprised he's even still allowed to be running such a high profile con. It's disappointing that 1st Place are even holding the IA gig there now (unless they really don't know much about American cons).

Good lord, that took an unexpected turn... It's likely 1st Place has/had no clue, just like a number of us certainly didn't. Well, I hope the concert and con go on without any, er, complications... :arsloid_ani_lili:

Since I am a foreigner I might not be the one to ask but....

I mean hey it's unfortunate but if the CEO is really how described they are better off not supporting a sh*tty convention

Edit: Also honestly going out explaining their version of the story in detail seems like an unprofessional move just to point fingers

I mean, honestly? You DO need decent screens and stuff for those concerts. Didn't they have to make a new one for Miku Expo US/Mexico tours because of how impractical/expensive it would be to take the Japanese one overseas? I'm pretty sure the company knows what's best vs. a convention expo group considering the former has hosted concerts prior....

A shame to everyone who wanted to go though.

I feel mixed about this. One one hand I feel like 1st Place did the right thing cause if they are focused on giving the audience full holographic experience then they should invest way more in the tech.

I mean... Look at the Paris Aria Concert, the tech looks way to complicated and definitely NOT cheap if it is on a huge scale. Not to mention all the other factors like 3D modeling and fluid movements. It would probably take weeks just to render a 3 minute movement.
It was in hindsight that they went with this deal not considering the unexpected technical issues along the way. I can't get mad cause those things always happens.

Hopefully next time they will get the right tech cause an Aria Musical concert oversees like the one in Paris is still something I really want.

I'm just hoping they will sell some good merch. Oversees shipping is getting too pricey and I'm tired of possible scams

Well that's too bad for all the people who wanted to go. Kind of a mess--AM says they tested their screen and it worked, IA's people say it wouldn't. Sounds like they probably had different definitions of what "works" means.

*Wry smile* Well, that's quite a mess.... And all the blame seems to be falling back on the head of AM, which is still that same guy with all the harassment issues, right?
