So, I just browsed the Magical Mirai websie a bit and... fuck...
It's still not completely ruled out that I can't go (if there was someone in Japan to arrange a ticket for me, but given the entry restrictions to Japan it's starting to look unlikely), but it's looking really fucking bad now, I've been looking forward to Magical Mirai all year. I'm extremely disappointed, that's all I can say right now

I'm sorry to hear that. That sucks. I remember how I felt when Expo got postponed back in March or so, because even though they didn't cancel, there was no guarantee that the rescheduled show would be at a place/time I could attend. The dates/locations for Expo's second postponement still haven't been announced, actually. At least the second time wasn't as disappointing as the first, but I can imagine how much that hurts. Sorry, man.

Well, the "Tsuten Miku" collaboration has been officially announced today, and runs from Oct 1st to Nov 30th. A variety of original goods will be available.

This situation is so weird... I know I am being selfish, but since I have attended every Mirai (except 2013) I feel so sad and bitter about this one actually seemingly happening, but I can't attend for the first time...completely beyond my control.
I hope they can still enjoy themselves and Mirai can return in its old glory next year... as the ultimate place to be when you love Miku, Japanese people and international visitors alike.

At this point it seems unlikely that Japan will open it's borders for tourists this year, but I still haven't cancelled my flights yet. I've been holding on to the slim chance I could go, but it's pretty much certain now that it won't be possible.I'm still going to wait a month or so before cancelling just in case a miracle happened.
I've only been to Mirai yearly since 2017, but I can kind of understand where you're coming from. I'm not really sad about Magical Mirai happening this year, I'm just sad I (most likely) can't be there and there's nothing I can do to help. If Japan won't let me in in the first place, there's no workaround to that.
If there's anything positive about the situation, at least I have a lot bigger budget for Mirai 2021 (not that budget's really been a problem before though, I've always made sure to have enough to cover all expenses at the event, like buying all the merch I want). At least I could stay in a "proper" hotel next time instead of the cheapest business hotels.
