  • Not actual Vocaloid merch per se, but since the colour of one of Tineco's vacuum cleaners is associated with Miku, they're having a Miku Day promotion campaign. Maybe Miku Day is slowly getting more recognition outside the community?
Well we got snow yesterday, and now it's gone again. Since we're already in March I'm not sure if I want snow anymore, I feel like an early spring would be preferable now
It's a bit strange, but lately I've been binge watching "What's My Line?" episodes on Youtube. It's an american quiz show from the 50's/60's, surprisingly entertaining to watch
So much events are getting canceled in Japan due to coronavirus that I'm starting to feel a bit worried about the Miku events. Kodo would be in biggest danger, but Magical Mirai is my main personal concern. Thankfully it seems scientists believe that summer will make it more difficult for the virus to spread.
    Hooray! :D

@mobius017 Oh no, by " hairpiece" I meant the rectangular decoration things that'd go on the base of the twintails. So far I haven't found them anywhere. But I'm planning to buy her some different clothes to display later so it doesn't matter that much

Ah, I see. That's much better than missing a whole tail. In the pictures, the hair tie looks kinda wide and light black (though maybe I'm not seeing it right). It might not be a perfect match, from what I've seen, but orthodontists sometimes give people teeny little colored rubber bands to put on their braces. Something like that might work as a hair tie for Miku, though it depends on how much hair she has as to if even those would be small enough. You might be able to order little packs of those.

It'd be really tough, but you could even attempt to add a black border to a red band by dipping it in a shallow pool of black paint with a tweezers...but that would take like superhuman precision to make work.... I guess I might also be afraid of the paint coming off on her hair, if it didn't stick to the rubber bands properly.

And of course, the bands wouldn't be square.... (Sorry, I was just looking to match what I thought I could see in the picture and forgot about that.)

Come to think of it, I think I heard in the past that rubber bands aren't good for human hair.... I couldn't say from personal experience, though. And doll hair might be different.
Tomorrow I may have something very important to pick up from the post office. If not, I'll be very very upset.
I'm not even surprised about Finnish post failing to deliver packages on time anymore, just irritated. I bet Finnish post in it's current state is among the worst postal services in Europe.
Now this'd be cool to own; somebody's selling a Project Diva arcade machine on Yahoo Auctions. I know you can't actually play it unless it's connected to Sega's network (which Sega doesn't do for private people), but I've heard of a guy who made a PD arcade machine run on PS4 soft...
I haven't had that much motivation to draw after my previous illustration. I was quite proud of how it turned out, and now the feeling that I can't do that well again has really slowed me down. The art I'm working on now I'll probably save for Miku Day, if it turns out even half decent.

I've had that feeling once or twice. I think there are maybe two ways you could deal with it:
    1. Take a break for a little bit. Just let yourself enjoy the feeling of accomplishment from the last piece. It'll probably fade a little bit over time, and you'll feel more ready for the next one.
    2. If you really need/want to work on the next illustration right away, a mental life hack I've used before is to pretend I didn't do the last thing. Actually try to half-convince myself that I didn't do it, or at least put it behind me
, and that it happened once and may/may not happen again
. Trouble is, this basically ruins that post-success euphoria, but it has a chance of making it possible to work more normally again right away.

Thanks! I'm not forced to work on the next piece, but the thing is I want to but at the same time I kind of don't. I've been trying to force myself to do a little bit (almost) every day
I've done it, I bought a Miku dollfie. She's missing one hair piece though, I'll have to try and find one somewhere

Wow, congrats! Looks like you got a good deal on her, compared to the about 80,000 yen price tag other dolls have.

Ye, I was a bit surprised the price didn't go higher than that (had it gone close to 50 000 I would've bailed out), though now I'm lowkey afraid there's some huge defect I missed. Apart from the missing hair decoration and some stains in places that'll be hidden by clothing I didn't see anything in the photos tho. The hairpiece might be a problem, I've done some digging and I saw like one hair piece set listed on Mandarake (sold out). I may get her a different costume later though

Just how much money has been invested in all these dollfies? Miku dollfies are about 80 000 yen a piece, special costumes anywhere between 15k and 30k, just for reference

I tried counting, and, from my estimate, there's just under 100 dollfies in that collection, around 80 of which are Miku. So if we're just counting Mikus, that's about ¥6.4 million, not counting the clothes. That's nearly $60,000 USD.

You can choose to buy a nice new car with that money, or a whole bunch of dolls. (Prolly they're not owned by a single person tho)
My wallet will be in trouble when the new Miku figures start taking preorders

I feel that :) . Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the painted version of Hatsune Miku: Yamashita Shunya ver. (really hoping they end up making the face look more like hers, because I'd love an Expo 2020 figure and the colors/design looked really cool otherwise), and possibly the Expo 5th Anniversary Figure. I'd also like an NT figure...but that will probably be a good while yet. :) We have yet to see what her real NT design will be in any case.

And then we come down to the fact that I really only maybe have a spot to store one of these ATM, which is a different challenge....

I personally dislike the face of the Yamashita ver. art. It's just my opinion, but the face doesn't suit Miku at all. That's a shame consodering the sculpt overall seems very cool. It's just not for me (if the face was more moe, I'd buy her definitely). I wonder how much she will cost.

I just remembered, I have to put in my order for the Taiwan & Hong Kong figure, goodbye 19000 yen... I wish we got more affordable scale figs like the V4X scale, she's good quality and was reasonably priced.

Yeah, the face is definitely my sticking point for the Yamashita figure, too. I've seen where they did make some changes of that nature between an artist's original drawing and the figure (the face, in particular, IIRC), and I really hope they do that here. Though the prototype sculpt doesn't make that seem likely--it still has the original puffed-up cheeks. It's like they tried to make her look older/mad/pouty at the same time, and it just doesn't look like it's been done in a way into which her face could conceivably transform from the usual one we know. It is too bad, because otherwise she looks a good bit like the US/Canada Expo 2020 art, and while I'm not the biggest fan of that, either (There's something almost kind of sheepish or halfway about her expression, like she's not sure if she's supposed to be in the picture or not.), I would've liked to have a figure that gave that another shot and came out better. Mostly since I'm going to Expo for my first concert this year, and a keepsake figure based on it would've been an incredibly lucky stroke.

Assuming the face gets adjusted, I'm also really hoping that it ends up being a solid figure, rather than a model kit. Though I think all of Kotobukiya's other Miku figures are model kits, so that's probably not likely, either.

The Taiwan & Hong Kong figure is really awesome, though! If I had more of a personal connection to Taiwan/Hong Kong, I'd definitely think about purchasing that!

Not worth a post of it's own in the merch thread, but we have better photos of the TW & HK figure, and she's on preorder now. The price is a bit high at over 19 000 yen (on Amiami)
