I feel like this will either end with NOBODY backing them or with them going WAY over what they want now. Either way, I'm excited to see what happens! I'm not sure how popular Adachi Rei is, but I'm sure she's popular enough to warrant a V6 bank. I wonder how she will sound as an AI bank, though, and if her English will actually be good enough to use. I hope so! I would love Adachi Rei in English. Even if she only gets a concat bank, I will still buy it the second it releases.

Yamaha once again shooting for those Teto-bucks

This is part of VOCALOID FAN-ding, a pretty exciting initiative where anyone can apply to become a Vocaloid. If your crowdfund succeeds, Yamaha will handle the business and technical side of things, from programming the voicebank to promotion. It's the most accessible way for ordinary people to become Vocaloids that we've seen yet. In the past, allowing individual fans to get voicebanks was unheard of, so this demonstrates a big change in Yamaha's attitude (albeit one with some foreshadowing from all their VTuber collaborations).

Adachi Rei isn't the only project that's been greenlit via this program. Coming up soon are crowdfunds for Akatsuki Luci, a VSinger and Youtube creator, and Tsunose Kotone, who you may remember from her TTS for A.I.VOICE.

I wonder what other characters we'll see get submitted to the program?

Huh, I didn't know that. That's neat! I'm pretty sure that nothing will get as much money as SynthV Teto, but Adachi Rei might be a close second. The only others I could think of for serious candidates for V6 would be the other Vipperloids, but I highly doubt that they would get enough money/their creators would allow it. I will definitely be donating to this, because I just really want a V6 bank for her.

God, there is no way that my favorite UTAU would get enough money for this, but I would love a Vocaloid voicebank for them.

I saw the Rei demos on my YouTube, and I had no clue what Yamaha had posted at first because I can't read Japanese. I won't lie, I nearly peed myself a bit when I realised I was hearing Rei in V6.

I'm actually glad V6 was picked over SynthV this time. Rei's voice was intentionally crafted from sine waves spliced together in Audacity, so she has no voice provider at all, and I don't think SynthV would have been able to process and capture the original tones of such a unique bank at all. V6's results being more artificial lends itself well to a bank like Rei.

Writing this up, I'm now wondering how fans would react to a hypothetical Teto V6? As great as Teto SynthV is, I still see people complain about her SynthV tone being too different to her UTAU tone, and a V6 version would probably preserve her UTAU tone much better.

i can say, as much as i love rei and im very happy to see this in the sense of exposing her to a larger audience... the prototype captures her very robotic utau sound and thats good to stay true to the intention of her voice. but also it makes me question... why would i want to buy her? like, if she sounds identical to her free utau why would i want to buy a vocaloid that would undeniably be expensive? unless im missing something about how she will release... i assume she will be purchasable with a bank like this when crowdfunded and made. i feel like something expected of utaus that become vocaloids is better quality, a reason to want to pay for it. rei should remain true to her original voice but at the same time if she doesnt really sound any "better" idk if i understand wanting to buy it

I'm pretty sure the Yamaha demos are literally just Rei's UTAU samples processed quickly through Vocaloid. I presume any final Vocaloid bank would sound both closer to and higher quality than her DiffSinger and DeepVocal banks.

its a prototype sure, but presenting the prototype that does sound just like her utau implies to me theyre likely to keep that sound even as they develop it. im not honestly sure how they could "improve" her voice to sound higher quality when her quirk is she is a totaly artificial voice that is unlikely to not sound choppy as she always has. i feel itd be pretty clear fans like how she sounds due to what she is too, i kind of doubt we would see a very different rei based on that fact.
