Never forget I called it.
Looks like this is one for the General Music section! I've wanted lighter, more naturalistic instrument VSTs for a while, so this has definitely piqued my interest. The ability to 'tune' them in the same style as vocal synths would be a godsend. Might wait for a later version to purchase though, as I assume they'll be some growing pains.
This is great, and honestly? price is not so bad considering what it is. Orchestral things especially are hard to do digitally and this honestly sounds like the best option I have seen in a while, even with some of the rather high quality (but still cheap by industry standard) VSTs i have. plus being familiar with Synth V's tuning makes the idea of working with these seem loads easier. this is the kinda thing i was to see current AI developments do, and its great that Dreamtonics is still pushing to develop stuff like this.
So we're NOT getting an over-the-top fancy speaker and it was just a representation for an extremely fine-tunable orchestra program? 
It made a cameo on the website, though, as being not for sale. I guess that device helped them make Instrument X.
The website says "Fifteen instruments at launch". There is currently violin, viola, cello, contrabass, piccolo, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, french horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, sax (alto and tenor). I think there are people who would compose full songs with this, but I think you'd probably have to take it and finish it up in a DAW for stuff like drums or guitar if you wanted to, for example, transition from an orchestra sound to some other genre of music.
It's kind of pricey, though, so I'm not sure if people in the vocal synth community would pay for it. I think maybe it's aimed at professionals who do stuff like make movie/game soundtracks because that's the kind of artists who are quoted on the website. For $649, you get all 15 instruments. For $349, you only get 8. For $99, you get "1 Instrument Expansion" which might mean you only get to pick a single instrument? It says there are Pick & Mix discounts.

I've just had a look at the comments on YT, and non-fandom musicians aren't impressed with the short demo so far. A bunch of people are saying that the quality of the instrument samples sound awful compared to what you can get in today's sample packs for DAWs, which is awkward considering the high price of the program.
Respectfully, is this not something you could achieve with a DAW and some plugins? I know FL Studio lets you assign specific instrument sounds to midi tracks. I guess I'm just not sure what the point of this is.
It sounds very bad. Like, very bad.
There is a reason why orchestral instruments packs in professional software like Cubase are in the size of 80GB and more.
Professionals don't care about price, useless automated features or less size on the hard drive. They care about quality, pureness of the sound.

It's supposed to be that but higher quality and a better interface than trying to manipulate everything with midi.
Yeah, the quality of this overall is why the price is a barrier for me. I’d be fine with this same level quality for a much lower price point as a fun experimental new music tool to mess around with. But for what you get….ehhh I dont really want to spend money like that.
