SynthV Male Vocal Synth Group: VirVox Project

VirVox is a circle producing content for Synth V Genbu and other characters, with permission from Animen/Volor. Their goal is to produce more male vocal synths.

Today (14th of May 2021) they released new fullbody art for Genbu! They have also announced that his full name is Kuruno Takehiro. There are three other characters created by VirVox, whether they'll get voicebanks, and on which engine, is unconfirmed.

just a theory of mine but i think that they were all eventually supposed to go on SynthV or well that was VirVox's plan i guess, but then the GENBU AI thing happened. IG now they're rebuilding their commercial reputation with A.I.Voice, I hope they still go back to SynthV... orz

According to VirVox's twitter post, it'll be produced without crowdfunding. According to his product info page, he'll be released around Fall 2022. Much like fellow A.I.VOICE Junior products, Shiki Rowen and Shiki Taigen, he has no vocal styles or additional emotions (Like Yuzuru's Anger, Sorrow and Joy).

According to his product info page, his package version will retail at 9900 yen while his download version will retail at 7920 yen, although according to VirVox's twitter post, there won't be a package version available. They'll be working out how to provide a physical version as fan merchandise that is "unofficial yet officially-approved".

They mention "Singing A.I.VOICE" a few times, they don't mean that A.I.VOICE itself has singing capabilities, they mean that you can use KotonoSync and Piyo-style method to make him sing.

Personally, I'm really excited to hear how he sounds like in A.I.Voice (although I'm probably gonna stick with VOICEVOX for TTS...). I wonder if the others will be coming to A.I.Voice as well... Starting with Ryusei threw me off cause they usually start with Takehiro or Kotarou first.

According to this tweet from January 29, when there are .wav files of Shiki Rowen and Shiki Taigen calling out the Virvox character's name included in their free exVOICE. And months later during April 22 when Ryuusei was announced for A.I.VOICE Junior, they outright say that their exVOICE is where the name of the 5th member was only revealed.


Checking their files we can see them calling each of their first names with and without honorifics... + one extra name.

Amongst the 5 known characters is one name that has not been publicly revealed before, Takuto, written in katakana.

If we go with the theory that the 5th character is based on the Huanglong (黄龍), coupled with the trend that all the members' names contain the hanzi of the beast they represent then the 'to' of 'Takuto' is probably '龍', using one of the nanori readings.

Honestly I'm surprised it took me this long to find out.

Now for the recent news:

Ver 1.1 update for VirVox vocals will be coming to VOICEVOX soon! They particularly point out that Kotarou's model has improved a lot. Which is great cause imo he kinda goes all whistle-y when the pitch goes higher, even if that's where his ideal range is. Hiho's thankful for the update too since VOICEVOX wasn't great at synthesizing male voices but now it's better.

Those who have bought something from their booth page before are eligible to try out the update before the public release.

* Mesuo, the new VOICEVOX character that VirVox helped work on, is also part of that update so read the terms and conditions first if you plan on using him.

Looks to be an exVOICE file for Akashi, specifically a "Kind / Gentle" emotion for "Thank you". Kotarou's model has improved by leaps and bounds which makes me happy. They've been working very hard on this update.

Wakamatsu Akashi's Birthday was set to today (July 17), and his official exVOICE and Illustration materials have been released!
Akashi is voiced by kemono VTuber and multi-creator Kokuri Raku. Hopefully we'll see a CoeFont and such for him soon too.
