Also, the first project Topaz will be involved in is the NFT anime "SAMURAI cryptos"... Which I guess is still coming out. GEMVOX was officially revealed in relation to this project late last month, but it seems that no outlets really picked up on it. She can be heard in this stream (starting 18:38):
After listening to it, that's just Natalie 😭 Even the other two songs, one is most certainly a human and the other is their voicebank for VX-B. This makes me confused as the description says that "their AI singer is doing the BGM" for the anime...but doesn't that contradict the owner's previous statement that "Gemvox has nothing to do with NFT technology"? The anime is literally an NFT anime.

I also leave this here, where he says "we do not use NFT, but we use blockchain, which is one of the ways we use NFT"....?

Sounds like a translation error. He probably meant "NFT is one of the ways people use blockchain technology."

🤔 I thought that voice didn't match the character. "Gloria" is the exact song they confirmed for Topaz, though. I assume I missed some kind of discussion about this being a prototype version of the song, in all fairness, but I have no idea what "AI singer first public appearance" is doing in the title otherwise? Didn't L already have an event?

I guess their position on NFTs is that the Studio Entre side isn't doing them, but GONZO is. Their NFTs actually started up around 2021-2022, but the anime has been in development hell and gone well beyond the market crash. I can't see why it would be a good idea to tie a new product line to this, especially one that markets itself on good business opportunities.

But Studio Entre is doing NFTs, their website lists an NFT music service as one of their products/startups...
Well, "we do not use NFT" must be the part that's the error, then... "GEMVOX does not use NFTs" may be what he's getting at. Which isn't fully addressing the issue either.

Right, but that's kind of what I'm getting at. He's trying to say that Gemvox doesn't have NFTs...but the way he's saying it would make it look like they have nothing to do with them at all, which simply isn't true. While Gemvox as a label might not have NFTs (yet), it's still owned and developed by a company who actively participates in NFTs, so I find his tweets very sketchy.

Sooo it seems we have a small snippet of a demo for Topaz, dropping a day before a planned october 15th release. (Interesting marketing strategy there.)

However it looks like Topaz is just the SV release that can't go a minute without controversy, as some has started to wonder if the demo might just be Sheena, one of Dreamtonics' first party bilingual bank in disguise. Here is a comparison:

Personally while I cannot say definitively that this is Sheena, that comparison sure sounds very similar. Best case scenario, the super-polished-super-professional-creepy-pasta-cat-girl-with-unfinished-art SV sounds like one of DT's first party bank in cursive making it a reduntant purchase if you already have Sheena. (Unless you just really like the character for some reason.) Worst case scenario, GEMVOX is scamming people, so pick your poison I guess.

EDIT: Okay scrach that, someone posted a video with Topaz's vp singing, so it very well could be just the two voices being weirdly similar:

Consider the scam accusation redacted fully. (I'm still not exatcly sold on the idea on the vb being this similar to an exsisting one even if it's a weird coincidence. Like, at that point just get Sheena imho, it's not like GEMVOX is releasing korean on day one if it even happens.)

I'm gonna assume it was similar voices and a dash of paranoia re: the Sheena comparison, but I find it inexplicable to not release any kind of voice snippet/demo until the day before release. I feel like it's a very Yamaha strategy that didn't serve them well. DT can get away with doing similar with their alphabet soups mainly because they do tend to be high quality and don't get released all that often, plus DT are literally the founder of SV. Random 3rd party company that people are already dubious of? You gotta build some interest and/or trust earlier than a single day before release. Come on now... 😂

Two new snippets of another upcoming demo for Topaz was released! I assume they will also be uploaded in full the same day that Gloria demo comes out. Such a weird vb rollout. The song is called "わふ" and will have both a Japanese and English version. Also unlike the Gloria demo you can very much hear her voice provider, Elley in this.

btw hi first post here!!

Welcome to the forums! :sonika_ani_lili:

Agreed that this rollout is wacky. Topaz' voice is very pleasant, but sincerely sweet in a way that's completely mismatched to her edgy design. The demos' audio bizarrely cuts out and ends abruptly. With their consistently messy presentation in mind, their obvious use of AI art is unsurprising; what is confusing is how poorly chosen the image is. It has completely different lighting and perspective to her main art and looks really odd as a backdrop. If nothing else, everything about this project is a great showcase of how these tools can't replace actual creatives. The lack of any solid art direction is painfully felt.

Ew AI art background

Anyway. The voice is actually quite nice, although I agree it doesn't match the art. I guess it's kind of fun to have a voice and avatar that don't seem to fit, but I'm not predisposed to think of this project's quirks as "fun" I'm afraid

The song cutting off abruptly instead of like fading after the chorus or something feels odd too. Just very strange all around

I don't see much buzz on this voicebank on jp twitter and en fans long checked out from actually following this project: case in point, I have not seen a single soul talk about these demos until I came to this thread. So I have a feeling this vb might end up being a flop. (I almost hope it does, as mean as that sounds. I don't want an entity as unprofessional and frankly cringe as GEMVOX to gain any footing in the vsynth space.)

Gemvox in general feels like some kind of AI generated joke - like, the company doesn't actually exist and the whole thing is some really late April Fools prank. It would certainly explain how lifeless and half-hearted the demos and promo tactics are.

I know there hasn't been a ton of buzz about her, but just for the record, she has released. I know some clips have been posted around. She seems a decent bank, nothing out of this world yet but not at all a bad product? I think her company's crypto AI dealings will turn off fans in the west, and I'm not sure how well her avatar will serve her anywhere else. Maybe once SV Korean comes out, she'll be a bigger hit since AFAIK her voice provider is a native Korean speaker
