I mean, that's what it is, a Future Tone port from PS4 to Switch. They've changed shading and cut songs and modules to accommodate to Switch's lower performance compared to PS4, while adding some new things to try and make the game a bit different. That's why I'm not buying Mega39's, I'm just getting the new songs DLC pack for Future Tone.

Regarding the module counts, Miku's modules have been cut too, but of course she still dominates, I mean she is the title character of the game after all. Naturally they gave her one new module for the game theme song.

You have to remember that Switch's capacity only allows so much, and when porting a PS4 game (originally an arcade game) with a ton of content to Switch, cuts had to be made to the content. They still did something new too, like adapting to the new device with mix mode, and the T-shirt feature.
I wish we would’ve gotten a new game instead :/, or at least some more variety in the song list (the fact that Double Lariat, Kokoro, Meltdown, Clover Club and others is hearth breaking. Also it’s criminal that we got Colorful X Melody but not Colorful X Sexy ahhhhh). Still hope it does well so there will be hope for a brand new diva game (just not X 2nd tho).

Also I know MagicalMiku mentioned it on a previous post in here pages back, but Mega39 was made on a short time frame to begin with. Having to test ALL of the Future Tone modules would've been a nightmare and also configuring them to that shader...

If Mega39 DLC is well priced, I'm all for it, but I'd rather they focus on a new Project Diva game if they don't have the manpower/time to dedicate to both.

...Also I would only agree to PS5 Future Tone port IF it adds both PDX songs and Mega39 new songs... also like some of the Mirai songs but at this point I've accepted no daughter of evil...

Admittedly some of those songs like USED to be really popular but aren't anymore

idk why Colorful x Sexy always gets the axe over Melody, Melody is way more forgettable imo even if sexy isn't mixed that well

yes exactly ^^ that's also the reason why the Snow Miku 2018 and Snow Miku 2019 modules were delayed by some weeks :) and also that's why the DLC songs for the PS4 versions have been delayed to 2 months, a lot of testing is needed (just try to imagine to test every combination of module/hairstyle in every PV and checking it frame by frame)

about a possible new release, a kind of complete edition, for Future Tone PS4/PS5, let's remember that this year it will be 10 year anniversary of Project DIVA Arcade(●'◡'●)

Releasing the same game a third time for a different system when the PS5 will be able to play PS4 games is a waste. Hopefully Sega will just focus on making a real game after this instead of ports and re releases or they can finish porting the Mirai songs, X songs, and updated F/F 2nd PV’s something fans have been asking for awhile. I want Sega to succeed but they barely listen to the fans anymore.

Might go insane if they give us yet another FT re-release with a small amount of extra content and market it as a new release again... they can keep it if all we get is another half 2DPV DLC pack that may or may not come with like 2 (or just one! looking at mega39) new miku modules if we're lucky. I've long given up on any of the missing X/mirai content to ever be added at this point as well. Keep any new content and use it for a proper game release, please. And as said above PS5's backwards compatibility would make a port pretty much pointless. Just move on already.

Mega39 is the last FT thing I'll tolerate and even then I'm not entirely satisfied with how it's shaping up. Love the celshaded look, respect the new song selections, the T-Shirt drawing feature seems really cute and as someone who always prefered PjD on a handheld it's cool to play it on the Switch. I'm not mad about the lack of certain FT songs cause choices had to be made and 100+ songs is still a really satisfactory amount. But the fact that half of the new songs don't even have a 3D PV for some goddamn reason really killed a lot of my excitement for this game. Half of the appeal of PjD (to me at least) was to see how they recreated these songs in 3D so when you take that away it's just.........okay..... It's not an unprecedented thing coming from Arcade, great songs like Hibikase have had this treatment in the past but it's just as disappointing this time.

And it's not like they don't have it in them to create great PVs anymore, personally the PV for Catch the Wave might even be amongst one of my faves in the series! And the rest of the new PVs do look great too so it kinda stings that the rest couldn't get the same treatment. Really would have preferred if they could've kept this one cooking a while longer in the oven. The lack of modules to go alongside these songs (aside from Catch the Wave) really sucks too.

In the end I'll still be supporting the western release though... I just hope whatever they do next ends up to be a brand new game release, not another FT rehash. I'm not getting my hopes up for that to happen anytime soon but I hope to be pleasantly surprised one of these days. At least meanwhile we'll be having Project Sekai which has me incredibly excited as someone who waited years for a proper Miku mobile rhythm game to show up... but I still want the Diva series to go on

Omg yes. The fact that there’s only like five(?) 2D PVs makes them look so.... out of place. Like it’s not even a proof of “laziness”, but the fact that out of the 100+ songs the game has there’s only like five of them that are not 3D kinda throws me away (I would have made sense if it technically was the reason we got more songs but I don’t think that six songs that aren’t 3D are going to make a huge difference in time constraints or capacity).

Also I’m mad that we didn’t even get modules for the new songs, specially for Dreaming ChuChu, Jitter Bug and Ohedo Julia Night (those costumes are the best).

Sand Planet & Hibikase are also in Mega39 and are 2D PVs so it's not too strange. The original Arcade/PS4 Future Tone has quite a few 2D PV songs too.

yeah that was kind of my point. I know the Arcade one has more 2D PVs, but on MegaMix you only have Hibikase, Sand Planet, Dreaming ChuChu, Jitter Bug, Ohedo Julia Night, that Mafumafu song (I really got to learn it’s name lol) and Loki (kinda?). Having seven out of the more than 100+ songs being just 2D PVs makes it feel as if these songs were kinda left incomplete, rather than them being another type of PV.

the Famitsu review score for Project DIVA MEGA39's is 8/8/8/8 (those are 4 scores from 4 Famitsu journalists) :miku_lili:
here are the comments from the reviewers:

10 hours to play 101 songs regardless of mode and difficulty, 70 hours to play all songs at all difficulty levels.

・ The songs are rich in variety
・ I'm glad that you can play in a mixed mode
・ Tired from button operation
・ I am happy to edit T-shirts
・ Feel unsatisfactory compared to PS4
・ The impression that you can play while capturing the PV in the field of view, although there are some difficulties in the new mode
・ It is assumed that the player is a fan of vocaloid and recorded songs
・ Mix mode has a lot of button hits due to how to hold the joycon

Makoto Osaki, the producer of the series, is really happy with the sales results of Project DIVA MEGA39s, in fact the packaged version is sold out in almost all stores in Japan, and the DL version is very popular in the Nintendo e-shop (●'◡'●)

Thanks to you, the package version is out of stock. We've also heard reports that the DL version is performing better than ever. We have many people take it and all concerned are grateful. Package versions will be shipped one after the other, so if you want, we recommend you to make a reservation according to Divaste. Get the DL version right away.

Also, Japan Post has launched a Project Diva 10th Anniversary stamps set:
Wow, now that's really cool--there are now Miku stamps! ('Course, I don't know--maybe they've done that before?)

I mean, the stamps I've got at home are alright....

(Of course, you know if I had a set, I'd "waste" one of each kind sticking them on some kind of scrapbook page or something so I had one.)

See here if you're interested in the stamp particulars. Unfortunately, it looks like the stamps are exclusively Miku-themed, but the designs are neat-looking. Looks like there will be a little 25-minute presentation where Mikudayo and the Tokyo Central Post Office Director kick off sales of the stamps (hopefully I'm interpreting that right), do some PR, and offer photos with Mikudayo. Looks like a fun little thing for the post office to do!

I finally got the game and am confused about something, maybe one of you can help me with it.
So I tried the new Joy-Con play mode. I actually quite like it, and anything new in the game is welcome anyway. But I don't get the controls lol.
I was under the impression, and it would be far more intuitive to me, that you are supposed to move each con left and right, or tilt it left and right, to move each of the two cursors or whatever they are. But that doesn't work! To get them moving, I actually need to LIFT or LOWER each of the cons.
I don't know, that is just not intuitive, like when I see "shit I gotta move left quick" but I gotta do a different motion.
I was thinking the cons were calibrated wrong, but I did recalibrate, still no change. If I hold them at a weird angle I get the intended result but that can hardly be a solution. Also went through the buttom customize options for this specific mode but I couldn't find anything, at least not as far as I could read what was said.

Hope anybody can help!

Anyway, sounds good that the game is selling well. Hope it opens up a chance for an all new game.
My first impression is positive, I am glad to have PD on the go again. My biggest concern was 30FPS only but it doesn't actually bother me as much as I thought it would.
Only thing I am upset about is that they already sell more old songs now and even offer a season pass, instead of just having included it right away. THAT is just terrible, especially since it's old songs. But hey, if they at least make enough money to warrant an all new game, I'll be happy in the end.

I hope there's an English localisation or something. I know the Switch is region free and Project DIVA isn't text-heavy, but it makes my life so much easier if I'm able to read the menus and song titles.
