For fun I did a test of Miku V6 on a WIP version of a song I'm working on

I find it nice how she's pretty smooth, and my french (from japanese) vpr meant for miku v4x solid converted pretty well to her without a need for many edits.

It's a shame that chinese won't come immediately because that would be the most important to make french even better for her. chinese phonemes are very useful for french

I'm very happy with the initial tests and results!:miku_sakura_lili:
In the recent interview with DTM Magazine, the Crypton staff mentioned that there were a lot of trials and errors during the development, and trying with different notes and styles, I can really tell that both CFM and Yamaha put a lot of work. The tuning is already good, very good, and while I'm not familiar a lot with Vocaloid 6 (Miku is my first true Vocaloid 6, before I only tried some V6 demos), I feel there is room for improvement in some areas and some high/low notes, something I think they'll do during these next weeks, with more tests, tuning and also listening to feedback of both producers and users.
Feels like a good mix of Miku V3, V4X and a bit of NT2 advanced features. Again, very happy!!:miku_lili::kokone_lili:
Also, here is the official comment from Wataru Sasaki on the Sonicwire blog:
(translated from: https://sonicwire.com/news/blog/2025/12/miku-v6-earlyaccess )
We have made you waiting for a long time. Today, we released the Early Access version of "Hatsune Miku V6", optimized for the VOCALOID6 engine.
Both Crypton and Yamaha collaborated to deeply explore the matching of Hatsune Miku unique voice with the VOCALOID6 engine, and after much trial and error, we've reached a point where we've achieved some success.
We hope you'll give this singing voice a try, adding a natural, breathing feel while maintaining Miku's distinctive atmosphere.
We'll be making final adjustments based on feedback from creators and reactions from fans, with the goal of release date in the first half of 2026. We hope you enjoy "Hatsune Miku V6".

It looks like it currently is only working with Japanese, not English, I guess since it's still an early preview. But I threw together a quick test with Senbonzakura to show off how it sounds in a mix:

It has the main vocal and harmony tracks from the VSQX I downloaded, which I augmented by duplicating the main vocal twice, panning left and right, and using Vocaloid 6's Take feature to create more variations for double-tracking. Then I put compression, reverb and an extremely simple EQ on it to add some high end air and ensure the lows are trimmed.

This should show pretty well how Miku V6 sounds in context in a mix, with basic efforts. It was maybe half an hour of work after getting the source files together.

I really think Luka or Rin&Len are the next for Vocaloid6:luka_lili::rin_smile_lIlI::len_smile_lili:
PLEASE I need Luka V6. In fact, for Luka, how would they make a V6 bank for her? Would it be like Miku, and trained off her V2 voice (which I think is what's happening, if I'm wrong correct me) or would it be more like Luka V4X with it being trained off Asakawa's natural voice? Same issue for Rin/Len, but I think that they'll probably just use the same method they did for Miku.
I'm still hoping for a Meiko/Kaito update please crypton they're still effectively stuck in V3 the Super Pack made Kaito sound way too robotic and Meiko became Miku 3.0.

From the various interviews and talking sessions, they said Miku Vocaloid6 is based on both V3 and V4X (her cuteness of V2 is unique), and I think that after the trials and errors for the tuning and changing some features of V6, now the path is easier for the other Piapro characters. I think both Luka and the Kagamines will be based on their V4, and I wonder if there will be some announcements/teasers on their birthdays.. probably, Luka will first get NT2. It makes sense to focus on the NT2 lineup with Luka, Kaito and Meiko (maybe all of them for 2026), and then V6. All the tuning and features of Miku V6, plus all the feedback of producers and users during the Early Access, will be a very good starting point for the others:luka_lili::len_smile_lili::rin_smile_lIlI::meiko_lili::kaito_smile_lili:

Still have yet to sit down at my desk and try Miku V6 EA but man she sounds really good from all the examples I’ve heard. So happy to see she’s been well received.

One thing I wish they could do for the final release is find a way to incorporate her Append vocals in this bank. I could’ve sworn VX-beta ver 2 had some sort of vocal mode system that isn’t in its current version. It would be really cool if they could implement that at some point. In any case I’m gonna be eyeing the Starter Pack for Miku assuming Sonicwire will provide the usual discount :miku_lili:

I'm so happy Miku V6 is being embraced by the fandom! I think the last time people really liked a Miku product was V4, which came out nearly ten years ago, and in the meantime, Crypton have struggled with developing Miku NT and falling behind all the progresses in vocal synth technology after Miku V4 came out.

Quality-wise, I think Miku sounds like... well, herself! So my opinion hasn't changed from the first demos Crypton dropped. I know they mainly used her V3 and V4 samples for V6, but to me, V6's tone sounds fairly close to V2? Not completely the same, obviously (and V2's engine had so many unique quirks that I don't think you can recreate Miku V2's tone on a modern engine), but it sounds closer to how you expected Miku to sound in the V2 era, rather than too mature or squeaky. (I know Miku V3 was criticised for sounding too mature compared to V2, and too many producers have been overtuning Miku over the years to sound squeaky, so I was starting to worry Crypton would pull a Luka and Meiko with Miku's voice to accommodate the cursed moe people).

In the meantime, someone's uploaded a cover of WAVE with Miku V6, which I thought illustrated the positives I've mentioned with the current bank very well.

Also forgot to mention: for the Senbonzakura test, that's straight from a VSQX import with no messing with tuning in Vocaloid. Since Vocaloid AI voice banks don't use the same pitch parameters as concatenative ones, that means it shouldn't have brought in anything like pitch bends from the VSQX if there were any: everything you hear is from the pitch curves, expression settings, vibrato, etc. that Vocaloid decided to use by default. The only changes I made in Vocaloid were setting No Effect for the vocal effect (because I always use external processing in my DAW instead of Vocaloid's options), adding the two extra layers, and setting levels.

One thing I wish they could do for the final release is find a way to incorporate her Append vocals in this bank.
If Miku V6 is well-received, I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like Gumi Solid and started making append banks, at least. They'll just have to balance that with getting the other Crypton characters onto V6, which is probably a more pressing issue for them.
