I say teal just because that's the term I'm used to using (I think I've dropped the term "tealette" once or twice in my fics), but like y'all have pointed out, it's brighter than teal but darker than aqua. From Hamano's chart, I usually portray her with darker cyan/lighter aquamarine hair, personally, and just use "teal" for the sake of familiarity. That said, you can portray her with anything from dark green hair to almost-white blue, and it's still undeniably Miku.

Think we could coin "Miku" as its own color?

i voted teal but i'd go with turquoise or aqua too. based on wikipedia's definitions turquoise is closest.

My argument:
1) Miku's character item is a leek. Leeks are green.
2) Miku is known for yasai/vegetable juice. Which is green.
3) Miku's glow stick is green. Kaito's is blue (also, he has blue hair and therefore it means Miku can not also be blue.) < I know Len's is orange, he doesn't count.
1. miku's item is actually a spring onion, the vegetable is not related to or the same color as her hair, and the association was fanmade to begin with
2. again, not related to her hair, and a fanmade creation
3. i haven't seen the glowsticks irl but i feel like their color could spark a whole other argument tbh. i'd say they're cyan based on what i've seen

Of course she has green hair you guys! I have been coloring her hair as green for over 14 years!
that's very impressive considering that miku has been released for about *checks pocketwatch* 12.5 years lol

personally i don't like when people call her green or blue but if i think about it i'm not that picky when it comes to other in-between shades. like a yellow-green sort of deal? i see that and i'm like yeah that's green. so idk why i'm particular about blue-green. it is my favorite color tho. people making miku more green or more blue in their fanart doesn't bother me. artistic liberty babey
above all, of course it doesn't really matter. we all be perceiving things differently

The replies so far are pretty entertaining, seeing everyone put on their tinfoil hat on in order to present proof for their argument and seeing some strong emotions on the matter. 😂

I can't believe I mixed up Rin and Len's color (I guess I just suppressed the fact that Len = banana).

For me saying Miku's item is a leek, a lot of people in the Western fandom call it that. In Japanese, negi = spring onion, niranegi = leek, seems close enough for me to not care that much about it. Like, I work in produce and we only sell leeks so that's part of my reasoning.

I like the fact that Miku's hair is so recognizable that people can color her more on the blue or green spectrum (or even go crazy and use pink) and you still know it's her.

I didn't even think of turquoise, I just kept thinking of teal. 😱

The version of teal that leans more blue is "teal blue".

I guess when I was thinking of "teal" as a color, I was thinking of how when you select a color in a color picker, that you have further options for shade (adding black or white), like this:

Turquoise, guys. It's turquoise.

Unrelated, but I wish people would stop coloring Luka's hair hot pink.

According to the pixiv dictionary
髪の色は青緑色、(『葱』(ねぎ)という文字も入る事から『浅葱色』とも言われる)非常に長い左右対称のツインテールが特徴的。
(translated)
The hair color is turquoise , and it features a very long symmetrical twin tail (also called " Asagi-iro " because the word " green onion " is also included) .
This is Asagi-iro (浅葱色), which contains 葱 (green onion).

I think Project Mirai mentioned that Miku’s hair was teal (When its close to a character’s birthday/release date, Gumi will come and tell you that its the “hair color here” person’s birthday soon)

Just wanted to point that out (considering that Crypton worked on the game I think it’d be canon-)

EDIT: I have Project Mirai DX (The english translated version) so i have no idea what characters they used to describe the color

The official profile for Miku calls it blue-green (it's even called that in Japanese as a loanword, BURUU GURIIN) (I know this isn't technically the same as Project Sekai, though). It would be interesting seeing what kanji or katakana they used to describe her hair in Project Mirai. I haven't played the game at all. ^^;
