What Will You Do after Corona?

With most/all of us feeling the effects of the pandemic in one way or another (loss of job, stuff being closed, events being postponed or cancelled, social distancing, or--hopefully not--actually being sick), I thought it might be fun to engage in some idle daydreaming.

What are you going to do after the pandemic has broken and things return to normal?

Items can be realistic, but don't have to be.

What I'll do:

1. I'll sit out on my deck in the sun and read a book or something. Technically, I can do that regardless of the virus, but it seems like Corona will be here for awhile, and I'm looking forward to getting out there when it's actually warm and sunny, and the sky's blue instead of completely overcast. It's not the dead of winter anymore, but this cold weather sucks.

2. I'm going to Expo. I'll bring one of my Vocaloid CDs or something and get Miku, the rest of the gang, and the band members to sign it.

3. I'll hold a big party in my backyard. Everyone here at VVN will be invited. There'll be a pool (which I'll have to order/get put in; probably a bit small, but hopefully at least half of us can be in it at a time). I'll order like half a tractor trailer truck worth of burgers, hot dogs, chicken, vegan alternatives...ah, screw it, it'll just be catered, that's easier for sure. And there'll be vocal synth music, of course, loud enough to be heard for two blocks.

If I order tasty refreshments, who's interested/who wants what? ;)

Damn, I like this fantasy! :)

1. Get our refund from Gamestop for Animal Crossing and the guidebook, Final Fantasy 7, and use my $5 coupon. (You can't just cancel your order online/by phone, you HAVE to go in person. And if you wait over 30 days, then you have to get in store credit.)

2. Keep taking online college classes for IT. (I wonder if signing up for next semester will be affected... getting worried I'll be sitting here twiddling my thumbs not having school at all.)

3. Start donating plasma again so I can get vocal synth money.

4. Go clothes shopping.

5. Get checked into the loony bin for having to talk about a virus for what'll probably total a couple months long every single day.

Start my actual degree. Take the JLPT exam, then study for the N2. If it's done by the summer, travel to China for work. Record the voicebanks I was going to do but haven't been able to since the studio is now closed until lockdown is over. Shop, shop, shop. Go to meet my friend in London finally. Travel to Japan and see my friends that have had to end their study abroad years cut short. There's a lot, really!

Not sure. My routine isn't much different, except that now my classes are being livestreamed during normal classtime, instead of me driving to campus. Chipotle is apparently "essential" so it's not closing down, just that people aren't allowed to eat in the dining room now. In fact, since they're avoiding scheduling minors, I'm working more hours than usual...

So tbqh not much has changed for me yet? I do wonder if it'll get worse and our state will go into a more strict lockdown, since the governor's current "stay in your homes" warning has loopholes for going to the store, getting food, emergencies, and (funny enough) taking walks?? lol

I've already been making a list of things I wanna do after the pandemic passes for a while:
  1. Buy some books for summer reading. In particular, I've been planning on getting 1984 and 100 Years of Solitude.
  2. Learn how to ride a bike. (after I buy one that is;;;;) After I learn, I'm planning on spending my days riding around town and exploring stuff on my own.
  3. Finally learn how to drive. I've been putting it off for months and I wanna get over my fear of being in the driver's seat.
  4. Buy a new wardrobe. Apparently I have mainly dark clothes, and I want to add some color to it, experiment with my style, y'know?
  5. Open commisions. I want to wait until this school year ends where I know I won't have that much to do. The money could also help my family recover financially from this pandemic, at least a little bit.

I'm lucky that corona doesn't really affect my life right now, so I guess it's the same after it passes. Sure they recommend staying at home, with the exception of going to grocery store, pharmacy or other essential stuff, commute etc. Taking walks is also fine (excercise and fresh air is good for you), but that doesn't really change my normal life.

Obviously I'm going to Japan again in December for Magical Mirai, that's the only special thing I've planned (and even that's a yearly thing for me...)

Aside from the obvious commitments (like keeping up with online classes at uni), I've already got some ideas of what to do once the outbreak passes in the UK:
  1. If everything completely calms down by my birthday in June, I definitely want to get a tattoo now. Considering how severe the outbreak has become, I'm now approaching the "You only live once" philosophy, and now I want to get at least one so I'm still not sitting on the decision.
  2. Related to the first point, I also want to get hair extensions (I adore super-long hair, but my real hair has hardly ever grown past my shoulders), but I'm still not sure what type I should get. (Straight? Wavy, like the girls on Instagram? Curly, so it matches my natural hair completely? And should they be clip-ons, or those permanent extensions you put in with beads?)
  3. I definitely want to do a holiday with my boyfriend, even if it's just a weekend trip to Wales (I don't live super-far from the Welsh border). I'm currently separated from him for three weeks because of the recently imposed UK lockdown, and it's already breaking my heart not being able to see him.
  4. Related to the third point, I also want to make further plans to move out with my boyfriend, because quite frankly, I hate being stuck with my parents all the time now. (I love them, but they're really annoying to deal with if you spend too much time around them.)

I definitely underestimated how much of a mental toll social distancing was going to take on me. when quarantine is over the first thing i'm gonna do is go out of my way to see everyone again that i miss. although i feel that is still a long, long way off... I choose to look on the bright side and am really hoping things will start to ease up when May comes along. i really hope :(

also this e-learning thing is shit

Probably go to a convention (if only there were ever some that were near me) and see about doing an artist alley thing there. I'd also go to Miku Expo, and visit with family members I haven't seen in a while.

I'd also finally just get out and go anywhere again. I'd probably eat at my favorite Japanese restaurant because it's been too long since I've been!
