  • Drawing is hard to do nowadays. I use my laptop mainly for assignments, so afterward a screen's the last thing I want to see lol

Funnily enough, way back when I first got a tablet I soon after started getting really into doing ink brush and watercolor stuff. There's something about the kinesthetic sensations of traditional media that I started to miss after doing digital art.

I opened up the files on my phone and found a lot of vocaloid songs I downloaded a few years ago! After listening to some, I found it so wild how my music taste changed in just a short amount of time. It was also good since it revived some old favorites for me.
Dex and Dainas birthday is saturday.... I gotta think of something quick to make for the occassion
I told myself in the past that these posts are horrible, but I wanted to make this point. I really did try not to be too much of a downer like most of the ones I've seen there.
Today was my first day of school, but this time I'm actually in the school djfn

Since I couldn't begin my vocational course like most of the students the first semester, my schedule is full of classes I have left before I graduate. That said half of my classes I have with the seniors which feels a little different than I'm used to.
Since today's Leon and Lola's anniversary, I also wanna talk about one of the earliest landmarks in vocal synth "history" . I'm pretty sure some here will already know this but-

This year also is the 60th anniversary of when some computer programmers had an IBM 7094 sing "Daisy Bell." Both creepy and fascinating to many people, this really shows how far vocal synthesis has come in the past couple of decades.

While this may not exactly lead to the direct introduction of the vocal synths we know and love today (I still don't know), it can be inferred that the idea that a computer can sing definitely came from this event.

There are some covers of this song with some vocaloids, including this one from 7 years ago which I think is cute.

I think there should be more covers of this song with every vocal synth. Doesn't matter if it's VOCALOID, UTAU, Synth V---every synth should sing this.

I might repost this on Twitter later, I'm still debating if I should log back in though.

Cool! I'd heard about this song/the computer singing it, but didn't know what the name of the song was. It really is neat to see how far synth technology has come! Covering this song would probably be a lot of fun!

    Small vent ig just ignore

The fact that recently I keep learning of my favorite things have bad history (this is aside from vocaloid, I'm mainly talking about other media) is just disheartening. I see this criticism and I know it's all valid for the most part, but the fact that I only learn of it just now really makes me think that I should've known. Now more than ever there's just this pressure to know everything and which is right and wrong. To be "woke". Otherwise, what does that say about me? I wish I didn't take this too hard but tbh I'm too scared to try something new because of all this.

Hey, you’re not expected to know everything! It’s okay to like something without knowing every last intricate detail, and if it turns out to be problematic or bad, well, you didn’t know. That’s not on you, and no one will look down on you for not knowing.

I'm with Peaches! All that matters is that you're willing to educate yourself.
I'm watching Magical Mirai and I don't think I ever danced around to vocaloid music this much in years skdjhdd

I've been so busy with my other interests, I really thought I was starting to outgrow vocaloid
    Luckily I was wrong! :D
Okay, so, when you say DDR-tist, does that mean you make stepcharts, or what's up? o:

Oh no that means that I just draw a bunch of stuff with Dex, Daina, and Ruby (or ddr for short hehe). Though everytime I use that acronym there is a lot of confusion lolol
I have a cool drawing idea to start off my Dex and Daina countdown thread tomorrow but my assignments are getting in the way >:(
I've been really busy with exams this week and I still have two big drawings to finish by sunday.... luckily it's a short school week so I can work on them this weekend
Ngl I'm kinda disappointed in myself for how I managed the Ruby Countdown thread this year. Like it was a mix of lack of planning, lots of other work to worry about, and basically just days where I didn't have any motivation. Hopefully with it's Dex and Daina's turn it'll be a lot smoother.

I just have to make sure I don't join any more collabs lol
