Other ACE Virtual Singer Discussion Thread

They talked about it on the official ACE Discord server! Not a fan of the... rebrand? why call it "OC Singer" or "Pocket Singer" when you can just name it "ACE Singer" or heck name it the same as the desktop software "ACE Studio"? Well, whatever its worth, it seems like this is the new way to uses ACE Virtual Singer on mobile. (Also OC Singer itself has its own separate discord server fsr??)

Has anyone tried out Pocket Singer / OC Singer? I can't download it in my country but can anyone verify if its similar to the original ACE app or if its different. From what I gather from the pocket page, it seems like they're promoting it more like a "make your own vb" thing using the XSY feature it has.

Btw, for anyone who didn’t knew there is a contest for Ling’s design going on rn. I think u can submit an entry until 20 smt of March and the results will be in April if ik not mistaken
I think it's kinda like ACE Singer layout-wise, but like ACE Studio it's less of a game and more of a straight-up vocal synth. And it's pretty good- even PHENOMENAL by Android-compatible vocalsynth standards (we basically just had old Ace and PaintVoice before).
Not sure if anyone else caught it but I noticed on Tu Yuan's project's website, (Time and Space Idol Project) there's a character who's set to release for ACE. Not sure how long it's been there though.
Funny thing is... they miiiight've already showed the design? For context, aside from Tu Yuan, the other two visible vocals are Rabia and Samuel. The one who has a question mark already had her design and named revealed, Guan Yu.
According to a few posts on Rabia's bilibili channel, they also divide their singers into two categories "Material" and "Colorfill" which are their labels for "Standard" and "AI" voicebanks respectively. (long story short, material is something you can cut and paste like sample based banks while with colorfill, the outlines are made for you and you just gotta fill it in, which is kinda like AI banks)
Rabia (pictured here), Samuel and the 2nd unknown vocal would be considered Material vocals cause they're only available on Sample-based engines like VocalSharp, UTAU and DeepVocal. Meanwhile Tu Yuan, Guan Yu and the 1st unknown vocal would be considered Colorfill vocals. In fact I think that 1st unknown vocal that's announced for ACE would be the character shown here in the visual they made for Colorfill
She's also been teased a few times in the past in a few other older artwork (1, 2) alongside Rabia Samuel and Tu Yuan but afaik she doesnt have a voicebank nor an entry on their website. Again, not really sure if its her but I'm placing my bets that it's her.

I would like to use Ace, but I’ve seen some odd stuff floating around about one of the devs. Any truth in the rumors? (You can pm me if it’s too much drama for the thread)

Regarding Time and Space Idol Project's new character, the project manager, 大狗P, actually revealed both his voice and name a few months ago during December! Seems like I was wrong about the pink-haired girl.
His name is 褚明 (Chu Ming? i think? thats what google translate tells me)

Not really sure if its XLS though, as a refresher, ACE Studio currently only supports XLS between Chinese and Japanese vocals, but Pocket Singer has shown off English XLS as well, it's only a matter of time it comes to ACE Studio.

I also got an email from someone in the Chinese ACE community about wanting to clarify information and clear up a few misconceptions as well as a few various things:
- Lioy's singing style is not traditional Chinese Opera like Feng Yi or Cheng Xiao from SynthV, to be exact, Lioy's VA is trained in singing traditional folksongs that have been influenced with Bel Canto, which is a western opera style. These two are very different things.

I mentioned this a few months ago and apparently this is a case of mistranslation. Her VA is Chinese, but the voicebank has an aptitude for Japanese style singing. - Qi Xuan's VA is apparently a young girl from an ethnic minority in China hence her appearance, her VA's name is also Qi Xuan and she even appeared on TV.
- Huiyu, Luo Xi, Zhibin, and Yun Yuguang will no longer be coming to ACE
- FIBE and Yao Xiang are still under development, while Yao Xiang has a few hiccups.
- Pocket Singer will not replace ACE Virtual Singer app.
- Yaroid for ACE is an independent editor, using the same API as ACE. Its still under development.
